About this ebook

When Hank, Slim, Drover, and Little Alfred head over to the Hodge’s place to feed the cattle, Hank encounters the weirdest cat he’s ever seen. Then, when Hank gets bumped out of the back of the Cammo-Stealth army truck, Mary D. Cat is the only one around to help keep Rip and Snort at bay. Will Slim realize Hank is missing in action? Is Mary D. Cat really a vampire? Or could it be--gulp--that she’s a good cat after all?

This is my first Hank the cowdog adventure and it was so funny I don't plan for it to be the last. Hank is not the most truthful hero to be found in literature, but that just adds to the humor. I enjoyed his malapropisms and outright mangling of words. His 'Ode to a Mother Skunk' song was definitely better than the coyotes' 'The Cannibal Way'. Hank's dream involving a beautiful collie and a wheel of cheese was good for chuckles. I felt sorry for Mary D Cat at first (Hank's attempt to make her feel better after he made her cry made me laugh aloud), but she comes into her own later in the book. (Never mind the cover -- she's described as a calico in the book.) This is definitely an adventure adults and children can enjoy.
