Remembering the Beautiful - Kelly Elaine

    Time

    I

    There was

    pain

    numbness

    painkillers refused

    II

    and I cried

    for everything

    everything broken

    everything beautiful

    I simply cried

    III

    There is intense suffering

    yet wanting

    to see past the pain

    wanting

    to remember

    the beautiful

    ~ *ALIGHT* ~

    Essence of Eve

    bare shoulders

    butterflies, more appropriately flutterbys

    clean, lightly-scented skin

    compassion and creativity

    flowers

    freshly-painted toenails

lockets worn ‘round neck or wrist

long hair let down or held loosely in bobby pins

    makeup in natural tones

    old-fashioned paper fans

    pretty scarves

pearls worn in ears and ‘round neck

    small hands

smooth legs softened by mildly-fragrant lotion

    warm, scented bubble baths

words like cherish, darling, lovely, and precious

    This is me

    ash remains of

    fragile tiger lilies, destroyed

    by harsh dragon’s breath

    embers un-kindled

    heat tamed

    ice to most

    water to those who

    are warm and patient

    letting me melt

    maple seed pod

    papery membrane

    not sugar maple

    useful for syrup

    but silver maple

    strong and enduring

    toes in summer grass

    sun at zenith

    my mind a massive map

    Freckles

    I

    I noticed them today

a few new specks of brown

    dotting my right index
