Ink Drops and Paint Drips: A Collection of Haiku and Thoughts
()
About this ebook
This booklet is the result of a joint project undertaken in the Second Life sim of Computer, at the amphitheater on the Astral Coalition parcel. Some of the members of two Second Life libraries, the ASA/Project Catfort Library and the Trotsdale Public Library, met to undertake haiku writing workshops. Amehana Ishtari / Arashi (author Teresa Garcia) read selections from “Seeds from a Birch Tree: Writing Haiku and the Spiritual Journey” by former Zen monk and English teacher Clark Strand. The participants then discussed the readings and practiced writing haiku (and some near-haiku) together to create this booklet. Some of the poems are more frivolous than others, a few not suitable for publication in a General rated publication have been removed from the main text but will be available inworld in the ASA library since it is located within an M rated sim. Some of the more interesting text discussion is also provided at the end of each session chapter. Timestamps are left intact to record when a particular poem was put into local chat.
Members of the ASA/Project Catfort and Trotsdale Libraries
The members of two libraries worked together as an extention of haiku workshops that were hosted by the ASA / Project Catfort Library. The Trotsdale library was the other, both of these libraries are active libraries within Second Life. The result is published here. Perhaps these two libraries will work together to create other cooperative works during future workshops.

Ink Drops and Paint Drips - Members of the ASA/Project Catfort and Trotsdale Libraries
Introduction
What follows is the result of a joint project undertaken in the Second Life sim of Computer, at the amphitheater on the Astral Coalition parcel. Some of the members of two Second Life libraries, the ASA/Project Catfort Library and the Trotsdale Public Library, met to undertake haiku writing workshops. Amehana Ishtari / Arashi (author Teresa Garcia) read selections from Seeds from a Birch Tree: Writing Haiku and the Spiritual Journey
by former Zen monk and English teacher Clark Strand.
A thank you goes out to all of the participants and guests that were involved with the workshops and the production. Some of these participants have chosen to go by pen names instead of Second Life names. This is being provided freely as an example of what can be done when people work together, and as a library resource created by the members of the libraries. Perhaps similar projects can be undertaken again in the future. In the meantime haiku and poetry open workshops are to be done Mondays at 6 PM SLT (Pacific Time) in the Trotsdale Public Library, in the sim of Trotsdale within Second Life. If Amehana is not able to be inworld at the time please do not let that stop you in practicing haiku with friendly individuals there and playing poetry games, just bear in mind that Trotsdale is a G rated sim and is administrated accordingly.
Sincerely,
Amehana Arashi
Co-curator for ASA
