Cooking Your Way to Good Health Introduction
We’ve finally come to a point where many people are worried about their health and the state of their bodies. This comes with a good reason of course – our world has changed significantly. When white collar jobs became more common, people found themselves sitting behind a desk rather than taking part in active jobs. As a result, they began to lead sedentary lifestyles, giving themselves very little time to move around. That being the case, it is no surprise that the health of the general population finally began to drop. Enter the 21st century.
If you thought the last fifty years were a downhill slope, take a look around you now. Computers, cellular phones, tablets, and even mp3 players have caused people to freeze in place, and fail to notice the world around them. The internet has offered the escape that so many people need, but it has also caused us to neglect some of the most basic staples of self care. Some call it ironic that we have all the information in the world at our fingertips, but do not have the first clue as to how we should diet. For you, that changes today, and it changes with this very simple book.
To understand parts of this book, you need to understand exactly what the detox diet is. What you have is essentially a diet that caters to the liver, ensuring that all of the toxins are cleaned out. This is a process that might take several days, and to be perfectly honest, it might be a bit uncomfortable. Once those toxins are cleared however, you will begin to notice several differences within yourself. For one, you will feel healthier. You will have much more energy, which means you no longer need to crawl into bed at every given moment of the day. It might sound like a strange concept, but it CAN become a reality if you let it! That said, it’s time to start looking through this book and learning to understand the detox diet.
As with anything else, this book does not provide a miracle cure for all of your medical issues. What it does do however is lay down the framework for a healthier life using tried and true methods that have been used for generations. In addition to that it will cover the various foods and meals that you can safely prepare when you are switching to the detox diet. Believe it or not, some of the available meals are actually quite tasty! In other words, you don’t have to give up good food to get good health – contrary to popular belief.
Before you jump into this book and start making use of the various recipes, it is always recommended that you speak with your physician or nutritionist to ensure that your body can withstand the process. It is also important to remember that not everyone has the same physiology. What does this mean exactly? It means that while one person might experience significant results by using one program, another person might find that it is completely ineffective. If you don’t believe us, take a look at the results from the various ‘six pack abs’ programs. You will find a plethora of mixed results and opinions, some of which are downright depressing. If you want to avoid this, you need to make sure that you are sticking with diets that work for you. It might be a challenge, but it can be done!
If you do not feel like composing your own meal plan for a given week, you are in luck! This book contains a number of meal plans and menus for every day of the week, and as you become more comfortable with replacing your meals, you will be able to swap items in and out depending on your mood that day.
We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: the hardest part of a diet is sticking to it. Whenever you walk by what used to be your favorite food, or are offered something that does not conform to your diet, you run the risk of giving in. This isn’t what you want – not by any means. A single mistake can easily undo months of work, and with that being the case, you should either avoid those temptations, or make yourself accountable to someone.
If it is at all possible, you are strongly advised to seek out a friend who will be willing to take on this diet with you. It might be difficult, but among your friends you should be able to find someone ready and willing to take on that healthier lifestyle along with you, no matter how unlikely it seems. After all, almost anyone is up for improving their life! As you move forward in your diet, you will find it much easier to stick with it.
All of this is going to present a difficulty for you, but once you learn to cook your way to good health, you will find that it is easier to stick with it. These are great recipes, and each one is tailored to ensure you lose the right amount of weight. We are living in an extremely unhealthy world – no one can deny that, but that does not mean we have to conform to the habits presented to us. We are free to forge our own path, and we are free to keep our bodies in perfect shape. It’s in your hands now, and many of the answers you need can be found in these pages!
Section 1: Detox Diet Book
What is detoxification and how does this type of diet help the body?
Knowing what toxins are and how they affect the body is the first step to understanding how a detox diet is beneficial. Toxins can be peptides, proteins or molecules that may cause illness or disease when absorbed by the tissues of the body. They range from mild toxins to deadly ones. They can also be the cause of weight gain and general bad health.
Some toxins are man-made. This includes insecticides used on crops to kill pests and herbicides used for ridding crops of weeds. Other common ones are part of found in products that are used daily. They are called teratogenic agents. For example, aspirin, coffee, alcohol are teratogenic agents. They are also agents such drugs, viruses and infections and x-rays.
Ridding the body of toxins that adversely affect health is the number one way to a good health. There are natural processes for cleansing the body of toxins. Typically the liver, the kidneys and the lower gastrointestinal tract provide this function. However, it has been shown that a detox diet can aid in removing toxins and keeping the body from absorbing more.
When toxins build up in the body, they can cause all kinds of problems in the respiratory system, the intestines, the colon and other organs that are essential for good health.
