Reviews for The Heart Knows
1 rating1 review
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5This series had so much potential. Book 1 I would give 5 stars. I feel it steadily declined to 2/3 stars. Very laid back read. It's ashame it wasn't more cohesive in the characters other than the main, spoiled, Male, indecisive billionaire. Don't believe the description of the book other than book 1. Continuing with "Lexi" as the female lead would have been favorable than the detailing of the Male's other conquests. Book 1: 5 stars. Book 2: 3 stars. Book 3: 2 stars.

Chapter 1
I am done with this Mason. I have launched two Boys. Whom have become responsible men. I have achieved great things in medicine and I have a solid business empire.
Are you planning a pastoral life Dad? Are you intending to live at the poverty level? Is a land-locked state awaiting your arrival?
Mason was mocking his father.
Dr. Shelby Conrad III had recently endured a terrible loss. His younger brother Skip had died at the age of 44. He was two years Shelby’s junior. The brothers lived vastly different lives. Consequently, their paths crossed only occasionally. They were holiday siblings, only getting together when wreaths hung on the door.
Skip was gay and he died of AIDS. Skip liked guys and Shelby liked women. They were both passionate about the people they chose for intamcy. Their sexual choice was a minor detail, which they rarely discussed.
Shelby labeled his life phases by the women he romanced. There was the drawn-out Maxine phase. It resulted in two sons and Maxine’s time was shared by others. The Lexi period was pure and wholesome. The Dessie chapter was an apocalyptic disaster. He harbored a crush on Cay but it had not qualified as a romance. There were many other women as Janae, Harmony, and the list continues.
Skip had only one defining relationship. John was his husband of one year and partner of 24 years. He loved the unspoken secrets he shared with John. He knew every curve of his body. Skip never came out to Shelby as gay. He was always his gay brother Skip. It was a matter of fact. Mason and Wade grew up knowing Uncle Skip and Uncle John.
Losing his brother was traumatic. Shelby had not taken the time to notice Skip’s declining health in recent years. Being a physician, he knew what was happening physiologically. He did not give sufficient thought to the man. Skip lived with grace. A piece of Shelby died with his brother.
"Mason you are being absurd. I am able to handle life beyond South Carolina. I love it here, as it is my
