Christine Powell Gomez (AKA- CG Powell) started writing in 2011, after much consideration, she decided that indie pubbing was the direction for her. Since then she has never looked back, Christine has written books and short stories in the paranormal, science fiction, fantasy, and erotica genres all with a twist of romance. Before self-publishing, she worked a plethora of jobs that only enforce her love of the written word such as: her adventures in the Navy, working for the USDA in the sugar cane fields of south Louisiana, Cisco Networking (CCNA), working for the French Air Force as a technical advisor on electronic parts and becoming a (GIA) Gemologist. Christine has taken her vast knowledge and insatiable appetite for learning and applied it to the stories she writes. In 2012 Christine opened The Book Swag Shop, which caters to indie authors looking for unique swag items for their fans. This venture has helped her to understand branding, time management (still working on this one), and business management. It has also enabled her to meet other authors outside her usual circles.

    CHAPTER 1

The waves crashing below quietened my restless mind. At the beginning of Sarik’s reign things had been simpler. Lenni and I fell in love, and then wed. At Sarik’s request, I became his advisor when it came to the matters of Eir, but that was a lifetime ago. Within the week, Sarik would pull the anchors up on the Atlantis and would head back to his home world. The citizens of Eir would mourn the death of their king from old age, and the next king would take Sarik’s place. It all seemed so comical if I thought about it too long. Sarik was quite young for his race and his wife even younger, but by earth terms, they were the eldest of the elders.

Every time we went to Atlantis, I watched the age melt from their faces on the way there. It wasn’t long before I realized they were not the only ones who weren’t aging. I observed the world around me grow old, while time seemed to stand still for me. Even Lenni was not immune. Before I knew it, our youth had passed—so had our chance for children. Our only comfort was that her sister Halis bore many children with Edric and was more than happy to allow us to help raise them. Every one of Halis’ crying babes had put a smile on Lenni’s face. For me, it was Sarik and Jael’s son, Aidan, who brought me the most joy—and angst.

With one great howl up the cliff, the wind blew its icy breath against my skin. I shivered and pulled my cape tighter around my body. Sarik had one last mission for me before he left. At first, I thought leaving Aidan on Earth was a bad idea. At thirty-two Earth years, he should be well into manhood, but that wasn’t the case. He was a mere child by Nauss and Jin standards, and when not holding an age glamor, he looked and acted more like a he was barely out of childhood. There wasn’t a chance in hell that Sarik would leave Eir to his young irresponsible son. In fact he hadn’t planned on leaving his son at all.

For months, they had argued about Aidan staying behind. Jael cried for Aidan to accompany them to their home world, but the boy wouldn’t hear of it. There was too much strife between his father and him. Aidan couldn’t wait to be rid of Sarik’s constant blustering—I couldn’t say that I blamed him. Eventually a compromise was reached: Aidan would be left in the care of Sarik’s uncle Odin in the Northern lands, and I would ensure he made it there in one piece. The clan would mourn our deaths too, once word got back that our ship sank.

There you are, came a voice from behind. The steward wants to know where to put the yule rushes. And Master Eric is here for your meeting.
