About this ebook
The world has The Diary of Anne Frank to remind us of the plight of a spirited young Jewish girl and her family at the hands of Hitler's Nazi Party and the Waffen SS of World War II Germany. Now, we have Imbi's story in new non-fiction. If I Could Paint the Moon Black tells of a child and her mother caught in the nowhere land between Hitler and Stalin. In this non-fiction story, you will fall in love with the spirit of a young girl determined to be 'in charge' while first Stalin, then Hitler, then Stalin again overrun her tiny country, Estonia in the years between 1939 and 1945. Fear of exile to Siberia or execution by the Soviets send Imbi and her mother first into hiding and then on the run into lands west despite the presence of Hitler's army. Their struggle was not a choice between two evil dictators. It was a choice to live, to be free, to determine their own lives in the face of great upheaval and oppression. Based on a series of interviews between 2008 and 2014, this book will have you turning the page. Imbi's is a delightful story despite its dark reminders of war and devastation.
