The year was 1943, the world was at war and Yvonne Engelman was a prisoner at the most notorious concentration camp in history: Auschwitz.
Now 94, Yvonne lives in Sydney and believes that it is her duty as a survivor to share her powerful story.
“We need to teach people, especially the younger generations, about what hatred can do,” she tells New Idea exclusively. “Unfortunately, many people still haven’t learnt from history.”
