Chapter 1

I was happy to be home and see my son, Michael.  I am proud Michael is a healthy, bouncing boy!  Michael is a handsome young baby with a great spirit.  When I realized I was home, a sudden wave of exhaustion passed over me like a heat wave on a hot summer's day.  The years of fighting had taken their toll on me, and I felt tired.  I knew my sacrifice to liberate Europe was a just cause.  We had fought together with the German Army and pushed back the Russian and Lex-5 Army invaders.  The battle for Berlin and Munich was a success, and Positron's attention turned to liberate America from its invaders.  The battle was estimated to last many years before victory could be declared.  The fighting between the two military powers transformed many cities into rumble as a result of heavy artillery and gun fire in the streets.  The infrastructure of electrical, sewer and water systems of the cities would have to be rebuilt when this was all over.

I had confidence the fight for liberty was good, right and just.  Liberty is essential for freedom.  I believed and supported the principles of the Constitution of the United States and desired America to be free and liberated from its captors, the Russians and the Red Chinese.  America was conceived as one nation under God, entitled to the protection and guidance of God, if we kept God’s commandments and served him with exactness.  One nation under God was the motto of the greatest nation on earth.

Individuals from many different nations traveled over great distances, including over both oceans on the east and west coasts to arrive in America and pursue their dreams.  America was the land of plenty and provided work, food and innovations fueling prosperity locally and around the world.  The citizens of America symbolized the obedient children in search of the promised land, a land of milk and honey.  They were the children of the promise and were worthy to enter into the promised land, a land of inheritance.  Divine Providence intervened on many occasions, allowing America to become sovereign.  The land was liberated from England through a bloody, revolutionary war.   America also had to fight a Civil War to end slavery.  Eradicating the evils of slavery came at a high cost in terms of lives lost, but it was necessary.  Slavery was against the order of heaven.  America abandoned its policy of isolationism and elected to save Europe from Hitler’s tyrannous armies in World War II. The Manifest Destiny of America, projected military might and power during World War II, continued the war machine campaign in the fight against communism in South Korea, South Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan.  The war against communism would cost trillions of dollars in  debt and thousands of lives.  Communistic aggression would spread throughout Asia and Europe.  Communism would be at the borders of the free world.  America used its superpower status and gold-backed currency guarantees to sell dollars as the reserve currency and export military weapons around the world.  The prevailing policy was projection of power by itself or its allies.

We can point our fingers at the powers that caused the economic fall of America and blame the politicians for allowing socialistic ideologies to creep into government and take center stage.  The keynesian equation was popular among the Liberals.  The equation stated:  gross domestic product equals consumption plus investment plus government spending plus net imports.  In a recession, the government borrowed money and spent money to stimulate the economy.  The borrowed money gave government spending power but pushed out small businesses from getting loans.  Small businesses struggled to employ labor and still turn a profit.  Credit was tight, and zombie banks were maintained by the Fed, preventing their bankruptcy, but not providing small businesses with cheap money to borrow.  The uncertainty caused by political intervention caused small businesses to take a wait a see approach and posture.  The consensus of the market seemed to be skeptical about government invention involved in repairing markets.  It was a bad idea.  The government stimulus spending did not efficiently allocate resources, as demonstrated by failed national projects such as subsidized batteries production line for electric vehicles; and low demand for subsidized solar panels with excessive high costs of operation.

We should point our finger at Fed policy for monetarizing the money supply and driving the dollar into oblivion.  The Fed printed too many dollars, increasing the money supply by a factor of four.  The Fed created dollar-denominated securities to the tune of $3 trillion which had the effect of exporting inflation around the world.  The third world countries that spent 60 to 70 percent of their income on food were in a world of hurt, and riots were common.  The panic selling of foreign European securities and investments into U.S. securities caused bond prices to rise and yields to drop.  The U.S. bond market did not collapse, for now.  A collapse would reverse all the carry trades associated with the unusually low yields.  However, foreign investors were shy about buying more U.S. debt because of the increasing doubt about credit worthiness.  The U.S. debt was downgraded for the first time in many decades.  I started to say to myself, enough gloom and doom.

What happened to the idea of limited government?  Why had Congress forgotten what made America great?  Principles of limited government, fundamental rights and worship of God were essential!  Congress seemed like they were abandoning God and expanding government at faster rates.  The state was becoming powerful and the new god.  Power was the result of wealth.  America was very rich.  America was a land of plenty and a land where people were free to worship according to their good will and conscience.  America was free from radiation fallout caused from nuclear holocaust.  America did not have dead zones caused from radiation fallout; fallout so bad that fish floated to the surface of the water resulting from high concentrations of cesium or strontium getting into their systems.  America was relatively clean of serious life-threatening pollution.  The air was cleaner than Beijing’s air.  Beijing’s air was thick with pollution, and visibility was impossible.  In Beijing, people walk around with special masks covering their faces.  Over a thousand cars a day are being added to the roads of Beijing.  China had serious problems with water pollution.  Some lakes had high concentrations of algae resulting from chemicals being poured into the water by industries.  To be rich was glorious, but pollution was intolerable and unavoidable.  UTAI was building machines to clean up the pollution.

America was a place where a good man could raise a family, enjoy a cheeseburger and fries and relax to an evening of baseball.  The home I live in is cozy.  Penny has done a nice job making the house look and feel like a home.  Penny’s robot, Maggie, cooks meals to perfection.  Maggie is an e-robot.  Maggie specializes in domestic care.  Maggie is adaptive, and she can learn a wide range of subjects.  Maggie mastered many different cooking combinations.  She learned how to cook while she dreamed, and each day, Maggie was capable of new and more intriguing cooking combinations of food.  Dreams for Maggie were like a market of
