She stopped and looked back. The hair on the back of her head stood on end. Heart thudded in her chest so fast it felt as if it’d break through her ribcage at any moment.

A huge wolf stood and stared at her. The yellow eyes glowed under the light of the full moon. Ears curled back on its massive head as it barred its sharp teeth. The bushy tail swished once then twice.

“Connor?” she whispered with a shaky voice.

The beast took one step and stretched then it charged after her, moving fast.

Jess spit up water as she used what strength she had to crawl on the beach. Sharp throbs of pain seared across the side of her head.

Algae wrapped around her leg as she continued to claw at the sand, fighting against the current that threatened to take her back into the deep.

She heard a howl in the distance.

A big wave crashed on top of her and dragged her back. Help! she cried.

Two yellow eyes glowed from the trees.

Her body jerked. She watched the glowing eyes move closer. The shadow didn’t look like a shape of a man, but something else.
