About this ebook

Best Friggin’ Friend of All time!!!
'COZ BREAKING UP IS HARD TO DO WHEN YOU'RE "JUST FRIENDS", RIGHT?

Laila finds out Vince has been cheating and she took it very hard. But that isn't the only loss she will suffer from.

School has ended and she did not have anything to distract her. She has all the time in the world to cry and to doubt her choices. Eric went missing again after his graduation, and she missed him. Badly. With nothing else to do, she is forced to examine her relationship with him up to the tiniest of details.

Laila begins to believe that she has made the wrong decision. When he comes back she will tell him the truth. But where he is and what he is doing come in the form of a status update on his Facebook. Eric found love and he is coming home to prepare for his wedding.

Laila’s world sank.

The preparations are tight, time is of the essence. Eric needs friends to help him and one of those is Laila. In the midst of the chaos is the most ironic twist of all – she is relegated to the friend zone.

Best Friggin’ Friend of All time. That is her official title.

She dreads the day but she has to attend. It is, after all, her best friend’s wedding.

EXCERPT
Each step she took felt like walking on fire. Her heart started to hammer through her chest and although she had promised herself earlier that she would no longer cry, she knew she would not be able to hold it for long.

She began to breath at a quickened pace and sweat began to break through her brow. Everything seemed to move slower and she was at a loss. A single tear raced down from her left eye. Without thinking, she brushed it off with her palm.

Once she reached the middle of the aisle, she became aware of the entire gathering staring at her. Ashley had earlier commented how stunning she looked with the dress and, like all women who ventured out dressed to impress, Laila had already prepared for the stares she would be gathering throughout the wedding because she knew that Ashley was right. However she felt right now, she looked beautiful in that dress. But with the entire assembly looking at her, Laila felt like she would crumble anytime soon.

Then she noticed Eric walking towards her, smiling.

She frowned. He was not supposed to do this. He was taking his handkerchief from his suit pocket and he met her just as she made it out of the first row on her way towards Ashley’s side.

“Are you okay?” he asked so gently. “For a moment there, I thought you would trip.... Have you been crying? Are those tears?”

“Shut up already, will you? The bride would soon follow. I have to get out of the way.”

Eric paused slightly before talking again. “At least let me wipe that dirt off your toenails,” he said, suddenly kneeling down before she could protest.

    Chapter One

DURING THE DAYS that followed, Eric only kept in contact through the phone with quick calls. Laila had cancelled her flight home in anticipation of the upcoming activities that needed her participation. Soon however, she grew tired of keeping up pretenses. Sometimes it became too obvious that Ashley had to remind her about her about it.

Laila still couldn’t come into terms that the reason why Ashley had been coming home late was because she was busy helping Eric with his wedding plans. She knew it was selfish of her, but she could not help it. She was bitter, plain and simple. And she couldn’t get a workaround.

The week before the wedding became more hectic for her, and more so for Ashley. Finalizing their schedules for the coming semester and taking part in the wedding preparations had Ashley almost gasping for breath. Laila had to take part to help her friend. She volunteered to find the venue, a great task considering there was very little time. She found one restaurant with a garden at the back that was usually booked for family gatherings.

With a little adornment, the place would have worked well for a small wedding and could easily house at least a hundred. The place was also just a few hundred dollars shy of the estimated budget. The restaurant was also good with the catering arrangement. Pure luck, she called it. Eric seemed very happy over the phone.

Next came the fittings—which was more like dress hunting. All the other bridesmaids already picked their own dresses, Ashley included. Ashley was under a lot of pressure with orders from Eric to make Laila the best looking bridesmaid ever. With white as the theme color there
