Captivate the Room with Your Voice - Tracy Goodwin
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
I’m Tracy Goodwin, known all over the world as The Red Sweater Lady for my extensive collection of communication videos. While I do teach on numerous communication topics, my true love, my passion, my specialty is in improving the speaking voice and teaching people how to use their voice to gain their own personal power.
I'd like to tell you a little bit about myself and why I wrote this book before we get to work. While I have a Master’s degree in Corporate Communication, it is my work in the field of voice improvement that brings me my true information that is the foundation for the program I developed. The needs of my students, the challenges I see people face created the framework for this technique that will improve your voice which in turn will improve your ability to make money, you’re corporate positioning, your social standing and your life. So many people hate their voice; even more are included in the number one fear of public speaking. The actual voice makes up 36% of the communication efforts we make, much more than the 7% allocated to the actual words. So no matter what you know, if people can’t listen to you, you’re in trouble. Everyone, mostly, has a voice, and with that voice, you can leverage all areas of your life if you know how to use it. The problem, most people simply ignore the power that they have right on them, their voice. All of that is about to change. If you have a killer voice, you will get killer sales and more because you will have a voice that you will love, that everyone will be drawn to listen to, a voice that quickly allows you to build rapport and trust with clients and improve your self-esteem beyond measure. Welcome.

INTRODUCTION
Welcome to Killer Voice, Killer Sales! Here’s a secret, the title is a bit misleading because this book is going to do much more than just teach how to make more sales, and this book is going to re-invent you and the way the world responds to you. But, also, it will show you to maximize the true great qualities of your voice that will ultimately build your self-confidence, improve your social standing, change your corporate positioning for the better and yes, make more sales by making much more interesting presentations and pitches, building rapport and trust among clients much quicker and by turning you into the person whom everyone wants to listen to!
Master one element at a time. Like math, these principles are all important and must be built one on top of the other. If you do that, you will have a strong foundation that will be unshakable no matter what is thrown at you, this is the ultimate difference between really having a great voice and turning your voice on when you need to, which we all know is not easy to maintain-which, by the way, ends up doing more damage because you’re inconsistent.
I can guarantee you this method works. I’ve spent years teaching it to clients from well-known actors to Fortune 500 Executives, all of whom have been met with great success when they finished! This technique works but, just like anything else, you have to work at it. You have to do the exercises, spend some time on the technique, apply it every day and then, your voice will change, forever. It’s a very short amount of effort and time that you need to invest, in the grand scheme of this thing called life.
A Note About
HOW TO PRACTICE
Often times I get criticized on my videos when people do not completely understand what I am trying accomplish through over exaggeration in the practice exercises. But, when you are practicing, I want you to over emphasize unless otherwise stated. Now, in real life I don't want you to do that, be over exaggerated and cartoonish. Please understand that this is a practice technique and a critical one at that. I am training your voice to do something totally different; something new that these muscles have never done before so it is essential that you over emphasize or over stretch in practice so the elements/techniques will set.
A great way to visualize this is imagine a horizontal line with three vertical lines, one on each end and one in the middle. The line furthest to the left represents an average voice or perhaps where your voice is right now. The line furthest to the right represents maximum or over emphasized voice. The line in the middle represents exactly where we want your voice to be. When your voice settles into the middle line, you have achieved your goal. But, in order to get the technique to become a part of you, you must over emphasize when you practice. It is necessary for you to push your voice all the way to the far right so it will stretch, like a muscle. Your voice has been the way it is now for a very long time, like your whole life! It will
