Underboard and Other Plans is a collection of lyrical, often humorous, topical poetry written by Canadian journalist Barry Moores from 1988 to 2012. This "citizen poetry" observes and chronicles society and history from the perspective of a long-time scribe. Underboard is a word built to describe the feeling of being trapped beneath the hull of the craft. Hurricanes, desert wars, altruistic dope dealers, finding a saviour, life, death, anti-intellectual lovers and housecats are just a sample of the topics covered throughout Underboard. Moores has a background in print, broadcast and promotional media. Half of the sales of this book will be donated to a fundraising campaign started by his friends from university in order to raise money for an advanced treatment for multiple sclerosis. Barry has had MS since 1993.

Barry Moores

Barry Moores is a writer who lives in the slipstream of modern society, taking advantage of the quiet air in rural Atlantic Canada. His home in Shoal Harbour, Newfoundland, overlooks the ocean, but is conveniently equidistant between the province's two international airports. Underboard is his first book, self-published in print in 2012. His second book, a retrospective, will be published later this year. After earning a journalism degree in the late 80s, Barry worked in newspapers, radio and as a freelance writer/researcher/graphic designer as well as co-owning a media agency where he was executive editor. He also taught journalism.
