About this ebook
Louise Carter, a 34-year-old, and recently divorced mother of two, finds herself thrust into the workforce after fifteen years of spousal abuse. Though lacking confidence, she applies for work at Hunter and Hinson’s. Bringing with her a filled out application, she enters the office. “Thank you,” said the secretary as she took the application. “If you’ll have a seat, I’ll give this to Mr. Hunter.”
Louise took a seat and pretended to read a magazine while her thoughts ran wild. 'You know Ted’s right. You’re worthless! Even he said that he would not hire you to lick stamps let alone do something of importance. You’ll never amount to anything, so why even try?'
The interview went well, and Mr. Hunter gave Louise a chance, she was to start in the morning. Walking onto the assembling floor was intimidating. As she stepped up to the time clock, punched in for the first time, she meets Margaret Ling, a co-worker who befriends her.
Daily they would have lunch at the Destiny Dragon restaurant, where the fortune cookies would drastically change Louise’s life for the better.
