Author’s Note

My daughter is a lover of fairytales, and we love to read together. However, as her father I became disenchanted with the common plot that we were encountering—handsome prince and beautiful princess meet, fall in love at first sight, move into a giant castle, and live happily ever after. Such storylines cater to the secular worldview that places great value on physical beauty, material wealth, and unrestrained power. Holy Ever After is about looking beyond the fading happiness of worldly things and seeking the eternal holiness God desires for his children.

My foremost intention with this book is to inspire my own daughter to strive for this higher pursuit. When she looks in the mirror, I want her to see the wonderful creation God has made. I want her to seek after God’s true treasure. I want her to know that the journey to holiness may not always be easy—and it may not always bring immediate happiness—but it will have eternal rewards.

If this story can remind my daughter of my love and of God’s purpose for her life, then I will be content. If it is God’s will, however, I pray that this story will not only touch my family, but yours as well. May it inspire a generation of young people to dream beyond
