I have always been an avid reader. I keep at least two printed books available and five or six eBooks on my phone or tablet. I love books, and I penned my first book as a teenager. It sat on the shelf for many years while life happened. I met my soulmate and created a life that includes three very independent children, two affectionate cat children, two baby parakeets, and one very hyperactive puppy. I have worked in many different job markets that included being a cashier at a grocery store, a sales person at a retail store, a photographer at a portrait studio, sewing cushions in a furniture factory, seatseaming at a jeans factory, and a cashier at a convenience/gas store. I continued to work while I went to college. I got a degree and I am currently a Registered Nurse. I worked the first five years on a pulmonary stepdown unit. The lasted six years I have been working on a psychiatric unit. I enjoy reading so much that I have always wanted to give the same experience to a reader. It is my way of honoring every book that sparked so much emotion within me as I read them. I value any feedback because each review gives me a chance to improve. It gets me one step closer to giving back that same beautiful experience to a reader.

    Chapter One Jordan

I don’t know why girls sit and watch the guys practice football. I liked the games and I liked cheerleading, but I hated to sit in the hot sun and watch practice. I was also starting to get tired of dating the quarterback, but the head cheerleader was expected to date him. Sometimes, I wish my mother had never got me started in cheerleading. It would have suited me personally, if I could have been the quiet studious type. I guess what most would call the nerd. I made this comment to my mother once. And all she had to say was 'Oh, honey, don’t be silly. You were meant to stand out.' More like I was meant to be miserable, but I didn’t say that at the time. This was my senior year and I am so glad that it is. I can't wait to start college and get away from this small town.

My mother doesn’t know that I didn’t try out for the university cheerleading squad. I am not even sure a freshman in college can try out. I didn’t care to know because I just want to study and get a degree. I have a good idea about what I want to major in. It isn't fashion and design as my mother thinks. The good thing is that she didn’t go when I signed up for classes. I know that my career choice of a marine biologist would completely shock her.

Great. Practice was over. I watched as Jordan jogged over to me. The sweat dripping down his face and neck was a bit sexy. However, he was shallow and not really the best boyfriend material. Sitting at the bottom of the bleachers, he looked up at me.

Hey, Lana. How did I look out there?

See, what I mean? He is completely focused on himself. So, very shallow. I only caught the end of what he was saying because I was lost in my own thoughts. But I knew what he said.

You promised that you weren't going.

He continued to run his mouth and to be honest I have stopped caring.

Fine, Jordan, go with your damned friends.

He is so delusional, but I am so done with him. Just go. He continues to talk like I am okay with his behaviour. It probably doesn’t occur to him that anyone could not want to be with him. He is so sure that everyone wants to be with him. He tells me to wait for him, but I am not waiting. The minute he disappears into the field house I get up and leave.

    Chapter Two Matt

I head to the parking lot. Guess, I will be walking home. The only cars in the lot belong to the football players. And I am not riding with any of them. Just as I start towards the highway, so that I can head towards home. A car that I don’t recognize pulls in. It is a black sports car, and I know that no one at this school owns it. I get a little nervous when it pulls up beside
