What are Enchantments and Potions in Minecraft?

When Enchantments & Potions were first introduced to minecraft they added an element of magic to what was already an incredibly popular and addictive game. So what are Enchantments and Potions? Put simply, they are the sorcery aspect of the whole sword and sorcery concept that minecraft has been based upon.

To enchant objects you will need to build an enchanting table or an anvil. Placing an object into the enchanting interface and adding Lapis Lazuli will grant the object a randomly generated enchantment but cost the player XP points.
