About this ebook

Taking its title from the Book of John, Abide in Christ works to encourage readers to step past the doorway and into God s throne room. Pastor Andrew Murray simplifies the teachings of Jesus Christ, using 31 daily readings taken from books within both the Old and New Testaments to help Christians, and even those who are curious, accept the invitation and move closer to the fellowship of God and Jesus Christ. Abide in Christ presents an intense, enthusiastic message with the kind of depth and simplicity all readers can appreciate.

Andrew Murray

ANDREW MURRAY (1828-1917) was a church leader, evangelist, and missionary statesman. As a young man, Murray wanted to be a minister, but it was a career choice rather than an act of faith. Not until he had finished his general studies and begun his theological training in the Netherlands, did he experience a conversion of heart. Sixty years of ministry in the Dutch Reformed Church of South Africa, more than 200 books and tracts on Christian spirituality and ministry, extensive social work, and the founding of educational institutions were some of the outward signs of the inward grace that Murray experienced by continually casting himself on Christ. A few of his books include The True Vine, Absolute Surrender, The School of Obedience, Waiting on God, and The Prayer Life.

Wow! This was absolutely amazing! Definitely encouraged me in so many ways, and I love Murray's writing style. It kept me engaged and interested at all times, and I liked the short sections that made for easy reading. This book is so deep, so the short sections were definitely necessary.

I would highly recommend this for any Christian wanting to grow closer to Christ!

Short chapters ideal for morning devotionals. This book is small but dense with wisdom and valuable insights. I was routinely challenged to rely more upon Jesus and less upon self. There is much to be gained from the careful study of this slim volume.

Superb month of devotions (although I spent more than a month reading it). I went through a second time underlining, and a third summarizing it.In the Preface A.M. explains how during the life of Jesus on earth His word to his followers changed from 'follow me' to 'abide in me'. The later speaks of an intimacy of fellowship beyond trusting in His atonement and forgiveness. "Do not expectto abide in Him unless you give yourself time to grow into Jesus the vine ... Every workman claims his hour for food ... If we are to live through Jesus, we must feed on Him (John vi. 57)." Who would go on an infusion drip to have more time to devote themselves to their career? These devotions encourage Christians not to live possessing such a mindset with respect to Christ.
