A concrete block with the head of a young attractive woman sticking out of it is found at low tide. The detectives at Scotland Yard ask for Sherlock Holmes's help. Holmes and Watson investigate, and find there is no evidence at all, no clue to go by.

But Holmes realises that the complete absence of any clue is itself an important clue. It indicates that this apparent crime of passion is in fact an attempt by master criminal Moriarty to keep Sherlock Holmes occupied, while Moriarty proceeds to steal an unusually large shipment of gold bullion held by the Bank Of England.

Holmes and Watson investigate, and confirm that the gold bullion is very well guarded, but nevertheless Holmes predicts that it will be missing soon. The next morning Holmes receives a message that the gold bullion is gone! Holmes and Watson both confirm that the gold bullion is missing.

"Sherlock Holmes And the Woman In Concrete is a continuation of the best selling Sherlock Holmes And the Man In Concrete, which in English broke all my previous sales records, and is now also available in German and Spanish. Many readers asked me to write a continuation of Sherlock Holmes And the Man In Concrete, and so due to popular demand here is Sherlock Holmes And the Woman In Concrete."

Unlike in "Sherlock Holmes And the Man In Concrete," the important clues are missing of the peculiar pits in the concrete block’s upper surface, and the block being made of hydraulic cement. In fact there are no evidential clues at all, the case is evidently completely clueless, and its solution is therefore entirely baffling to the Detectives of Scotland Yard. But not to the world’s greatest  detective Sherlock Holmes.

Due to Sherlock Holmes’s powers of observation and logical thinking, he immediately realizes that the absence of any clue is in itself an important clue. It indicates that the person behind this despicable and unusual crime cannot be an ordinary criminal; it can be none other than the criminal genius Professor James Moriarty, who is the only man in England capable of performing such a monstrous crime, and also capable of doing it without leaving even a single clue. Moriarty’s evil mind has in the past challenged Sherlock Holmes, and Holmes is familiar with Moriarty’s methods. Moriarty kills without a moment’s hesitation, but he does not kill for pleasure, his utterly cold and calculating mind works only for criminal profit. Something is afoot here, no doubt a crime of exceptionally large size, and it is up to Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson to foil it. 

So begins the case of "Sherlock Holmes And the Woman In Concrete." Readers who enjoyed "Sherlock Holmes And the Man In Concrete" will no doubt enjoy reading this newly published continuation of it.

The photographs of gold bullion bars are authentic, and at the time this story was written one 100 troy ounce bullion bar was worth $130,000. Then the 150 one hundred troy ounce bars held in storage by the Bank of England would be worth $19,500,000 in today’s dollars.

The weight of a standard gram is no longer related to a cubic centimeter of water, as was originally intended when the metric scale of measurement was first devised; please note this story takes place towards the end of the 19th century.

As with all the Sherlock Holmes stories and books, the narrator is Scottish Doctor John H, (Hamish) Watson M.D. Dr. Watson assists Sherlock Holmes, and is also his live-in companion, friend and chronicler.
