I have wanted to be a writer since I learned to read. My reading ability was always at the top of the class and this developed into the talent for storytelling.  In 2011 an injury to my left leg left me disabled and I finally got the opportunity to try to write. The first stories I had published were in a US available only anthology.  The Ghost of St. Mary's and The Rocking Lantern were not only the first published, but the first I wrote. Later that year, I had Old Church Ghosts published on line in the UK. The original version is only availlable in the Special Edition version.  I made my on line reputation for ghost stories, but I also write for the children's charity books by The Peacock Writers. In 2012, my book Chronicles of Mark Johnson won an award for excellence from the US on line magazine  indiePENdents.org. Both this book, and its sequel Wharfemere Finale had rave reviews from New York reviewer, Fran Lewis. In recent times, my US hit series Forgestriker has sold over 350 e-books in the seven books series, and earned me a reputation for writing sci-fi in the USA.

    HISTORY OF A STORY

This story started its life as a short story for three friends and was never intended to go further. I didn't think anybody would wish to read the story. I didn't like it-how wrong could I be?

From its original version, this story has become my most read story and until now the original text and the second version-the first publicized version-have not been widely available.

The original was so good some friends asked me to send it to an editor friend, after a lot of coaxing I did-with an equal amount of trepidation. I sent the story to my friend Emma Oram who edited the magazine Vintage Script for two years.  After a little editing, she published the story online; my idea was for a Christmas ghost story, but Emma decided to run a Halloween particular page for her online magazine and so began the journey.

The next version is the most popular and most read, another friend edited this family-friendly version, Paula Shene-for the children's charity The Peacock Writers and appeared in the book A Spooky Fall Harvest.

The final version is my adult themed ending and has a scary and unpleasant feel, worthy of the writer of ghost stories.

    AUTHOR NOTES

I was making a small reputation online for ghost stories when I wrote Old Church Ghosts, at the time of finishing and to this date, I still do not like the story for many reasons. I think the main reason is I sent my friends two earlier stories and both Ghost of St. Mary's and The Rocking Lantern are much larger and I felt I let my friends down sending a short story.

Another reason is for some reason I felt the story didn't gel as the others did and this concerned me, as I don't like to send low-grade stories out-despite this I have written over 400 short stories and only scrapped two.
