THE WONDERS OF WINTER WRASSE
After the atmospheric autumn storms and weeks of high winds and wet weather, these crisp, cool, January days, with their intoxicating fresh air and azure skies, could not come soon enoug. Indulging in all the wrong foods and beverages over Christmas, I feel so alive being out again and doing what I love. The exercise, of course, is very welcome, as is the hit of vitamin D from the sun. I’ve lived in hot climates for significant periods in my life and it’s made me appreciate the seasons in the UK all the more. These sunny days not only pave the way to spring and summer, but they also inspire you, making you so very glad for everything you have and the possibility that lays before you. In stark contrast, the doom and gloom of winter and post-Christmas blues can get anyone down; I was glad this fabulous weather had banished those feelings.
Full of energy and optimism, I set off with just a bunch of Black Minnow soft plastic lures, the DSLR camera and my Century Graphex lure rod, paired with a Daiwa Certate 3200H. The journey started with a shortcut that ended with me getting lost, walking through fields in which I kept getting blocked by impenetrable brambles and blackthorn hedges.
