Today’s buildings are intelligent within and without. Outside, CCTVs could help the building management to monitor the surroundings for security and safety reasons, lights and lamps could switch on and off automatically, gates could open or close automatically, et al.. Within, air-conditioners could adjust the ambience of rooms automatically, lights could dim or brighten automatically, overhead projectors and sound systems with mixers could interact beautifully, et al.. The control of the myriad of equipment and appendages within and without the building is normally activated by pressing a key-pad, remote control, the phone-line or sensors sensitive to temperature, motion or other changes in the environment.

The building, office and home automation systems have been designed to bring comfort and security to the office worker, the home body or anyone who has to be in or around the building for some reason.

This book looks at the practical aspects of these systems which are a boon to humanity.
