About this ebook

DESCRIPTION OF BOOK

Building, office and home automation systems are a specialized, technical area, requiring years to master. In this "made easy" reference book, technical concepts have been simplified and made accessible to the practitioners in the field, and, also to the interested lay people who have no knowledge of this arcane specialization but who wish to gain a quick and easy grasp of this specialized subject.

Much of the facts presented in the book are of the "hands on", practical variety, which are unlikely to be found in other related technical books which tend to be overly theoretical. The project notes compiled by the author and incorporated in the book should prove invaluable and insightful to the interested reader, especially the reader embarking on or already in building, office and home automation systems projects. To facilitate assimilation of the facts by the reader, there are plenty of illustrations and diagrams.

In the book, the author also shares his experiences and knowledge of the field with the reader, something which cannot be obtained strictly from technical books.

Practical, Made Easy Guide To Building, Office And Home Automation Systems - Part Two - Kerwin Mathew

PRACTICAL, MADE EASY GUIDE TO BUILDING,

    OFFICE AND HOME AUTOMATION SYSTEMS

    PART TWO

    Preface

Today’s buildings are intelligent within and without. Outside, CCTVs could help the building management to monitor the surroundings for security and safety reasons, lights and lamps could switch on and off automatically, gates could open or close automatically, et al.. Within, air-conditioners could adjust the ambience of rooms automatically, lights could dim or brighten automatically, overhead projectors and sound systems with mixers could interact beautifully, et al.. The control of the myriad of equipment and appendages within and without the building is normally activated by pressing a key-pad, remote control, the phone-line or sensors sensitive to temperature, motion or other changes in the environment.

The building, office and home automation systems have been designed to bring comfort and security to the office worker, the home body or anyone who has to be in or around the building for some reason.

This book looks at the practical aspects of these systems which are a boon to humanity.

Kerwin Mathew, Ph.D., PE, CMfgT, CPM
