Chapter One

Roy Snow walked beside his pack’s chosen mate wishing there was something more he could say. This was the first time he’d ever been part of a claiming, and Kitty, their mate, was not helping matters. His brother and alpha had fucked up big by taking her then walking away. Roy knew his brother hadn’t had a choice. Their traditions were fucked up, but they had to live by them. I know it’s stupid. I’ve not even known you all that long, and yet I thought Tom was a good man. I never thought he’d be the kind of guy to do something like that, she said. Her hands were going all over the place with her emphasis. The scents of disappointment, anger, arousal, and even need wafted to his nostrils. For two weeks he’d been listening to her vent about his brother. The constant stream of disappointment was starting to piss him off. They moved around the trees, and he hoped to God his brothers were nowhere to be seen. The other day he’d scented Mark and Joey, the twins, close by. None of them were allowed near Kitty until she’d bonded with him.

Thinking back over the last two weeks, Roy realized every time he’d tried to woo her, Kitty had pushed him away. She was keeping him at arms’ length, refusing to give him chance to get to know her. Roy was known for his patience, but with two weeks already gone, he only had a
