Chapter 1

Everyone is curious how the world went to hell, how the demon invasion came to be, and what exactly happened to bring on the demise of all mankind. People pray to God these days hoping he will answer their prayers with a way to escape. They wait for an answer to the plague, but the prayers are never answered. Before one can understand how life is today and what struggles the living must endure, a little history lesson should be given to depict the earliest known details that followed the invasion of the demon kind. It all began with an archeological dig known as the, Cannon Summon.

It started in the Middle East as archeologists retrieved from the sandy earth an odd body all warped with twisted bones, and sharp piercing teeth. The skeleton had an eerie human figure with oddly enhanced features. It was found in a peculiarly undefiled state. Even with thousands of years of aging against it, along with all the elements of nature they both neglected to have any effect or signs of deterioration that should have devoured and consumed the flesh of this body. The body was in decent shape given the circumstances.

It was a baffling and amazing find to say the least. What was even more fascinating and curious were the artifacts found along with the corpse. In a small tomb made of rock and hardened clay was a massive amount of tied up scrolls. The scrolls were made from the dried flesh of large animals. The binding was so old that the scrolls unraveled with the slightest movement of the tomb.

The interview with the archeologist on record stated the language was very close to the Sumerian writings. The language had many suggestions because of the incorporated symbols, that these writings were much older. Since the Sumerian language is the first recorded language that mankind is aware of, there is a lot of question to the age of these artifacts.

It was said that the scrolls were actually manuscripts for demon resurrections, ceremonies for raising the dead with the souls of demons. There were also accounts describing the attributes of many types of demons. The writings even described ways to fight the demons with angelic cooperation. Many writings and instructions were badly damaged and unreadable. Parts of the scrolls that would have been useful today were sadly not legible. These dilapidated parts were the details that explained how to control the demons and destroy them.

The artifacts were put on display at the National Gallery after they were examined. For three years, the world baffled at the corpse, which was now proof that a demon once existed. The news and media talked about the scrolls and the monstrous remains all over the planet. Of course, there were many speculations of every type orbiting the artifacts. The minds of every person were consumed with the reality that demons and dark forces were a fact. People were scared, religious organizations outraged, and many cult organizations were drawn to the remains on display. Soon the interest would be the destruction of everyone.

Mankind kept asking questions; that today they wish they never knew the answers to. The most shocking part that surprised everyone and caught his or her attention was when the scientist generated an actual physical representation of how the demon corpse would have looked while it was living. The recreation was a computer-generated model based on its bone structure, and attributes. It was an extremely scary, horrid thing to look upon. It stood twelve feet tall, and weighed over three hundred pounds. The demon’s teeth were like long crooked knives, each tooth was over an inch long. The fingers were long and sharp. Its back was bent and the hips were highly displaced. The model of the monster really frightened people when the reconstructed version was placed on display.

Photos of the manmade model were placed on almost everything printable. The photos were shown on every aspect of visual media as well. The model itself was horrifying but the educated views of the actual demon's construction were even more haunting. The scientist believed that the demon's corpse was originally human. That the expansion of the bones and demonic attributes formed after the human died. The other opinion was that the body had taken on changes and transformations while the person was still alive. There was no way to know what really happened.

All there was to go by were the scrolls that state clearly, the body will merge with the demon soul and it will alter the physical state of the body and its abilities. When this was mentioned of course, the world was in disbelief. No one wanted to accept that any of this morbid talk of demons and their evil was real. The concepts were pushed out of their minds and never really accepted. To think that in time the whole world would know for real what evil existed.

After a few years, the world seemed to adhere to the possibility that the demon and the artifacts were just a hoax. Mankind of course has a way of turning their heads in disbelief when danger is present or when the facts are too hard to believe. Of course, the facts had never been witnessed up to this point. No one was willing to accept a theory of this magnitude, until the day that hell delivered it on their doorstep.

To continue this flash back and keep the story flowing, one should skip to the part where obviously someone believed enough in demons and their evil to kill two guards and steal the artifacts from the museum. The thieves were never captured or ever known. Whoever decided to steal these things and then use them in the manner that they did, placed the world in great peril.

Before the world went totally insane and overcome with living demons as it is today, the stolen artifacts were found in a decline in a deep forest somewhere in the West Virginian wilderness. When the artifacts were found, they were scattered among twenty-two torn bodies covered in dried blood and bone fragments. Each member wearing hooded black robes lay dead and disfigured all over the area.

The reports state it was a clan of cults-men that became homicidal and suicidal for some reason unknown. The bodies either were torn with an instrument that could not be located, or with a very wide knife of some sort, or possibly claws from a large animal. There was one blood soaked robe with the flesh of a body tied to an altar but all the insides were missing. It seemed like the skin was an empty vessel that was torn apart from the inside. It appeared as if something was trying to get out.

When the police found the dead cult members and all the artifacts, they were not aware at that time that the cult had actually performed the ritual that raised a demon. As mentioned in the ancient scrolls the demons would come from a sacrificed body. This also helps to explain the reason why the body tied to the altar was empty underneath its skin. This must have meant this was the body used as the host for the demon to be created from. The demon must have been brought to life then killed the cult members surrounding it. The scrolls had the information needed for resurrecting a demon, but remember the instructions for controlling them were not legible.

Shortly after this, there were cases of both people and animals being slaughtered. People were starting to find hollowed out bodies quite regularly. There was never a whole complete body, just an empty shell with trails or blood. The violent mutilation of the bodies was enough evidence to suggest that something was exiting these dead corpses. No one at this time had yet to witness what that might be.

Stories continued to build as the small community where it all started, began to deteriorate. The death toll rose with every moment and began to spread further with each day. The local law enforcement was becoming overworked. The community began to fall in shambles. No one had any ideas or clues to explain what was happening. Then one day the answer came as the public witnessed an injured man running into town. The injured man began to transform before their very eyes into a creature they had never seen before.

The people stated that the man was covered in blood, rambling some nonsense babble about the devil being after him. The man was screaming that the whole town was going to die. While the man was speaking, his wounds started to break out into a bubbling, yellow-green substance. Then blood poured from the festering wounds as he fell to the ground. His body trembled with convulsions, and when they all thought he was about to die they witnessed the most atrocious thing they had ever seen. The man’s body began to rip open and bleed out.

Through the tearing of flesh came a twisted creature with long arms and long legs, a wide mouth with rippling teeth and big dark eyes. As it rose from the flesh from which it came, it staggered for a few moments before it got its stature and stood tall. It took one step, and the people fled. As the people ran around frightened and confused the creature began to speak, but the language was of a dialect that no one could comprehend.

In the confusion and the chaos, one man fell at the feet of the beast. The beast stepped upon the man with one foot. The creature then picked the man up from the ground with one hand around his neck, its long claws buried deep in the man's flesh. The creature licked the man and held him above the ground. The man was trembling in midair as he begins to wet himself. The demon took his other hand and shoved it deeply into the man’s gut moving his long claws like knives upward toward the man’s face, tearing and ripping everything inside him. The man was released falling from the demon’s hand. He was still gasping for breath as he lay on the cold wet ground. His ribs were all broken and sticking horizontally out of his body. His innards were leaking through the wounds that the demon had inflicted.

The townspeople could tell the man was in agony when they looked at his grotesque body. He started to fester and boil up as the first man did before he changed. Shortly after, the man’s body festered and the boils over came him, he too transformed into a demon. Or rather, a demon came to exist inside the man's broken body. The new birthed demon rose up and began to walk the ground alongside the first demon.

By this time it was obvious that this was about to get bitterly unspeakable and no one else dared to stay around and witness any further events. On that day, mankind learned a few things about the reality of what was happening. First, demons do exist, and they are much more fearsome than anyone could have imagined. They learned that when you are attacked by a demon you could then die as a demon manifests in your body. They had to accept, that mankind had just found a new threat that might be the last threat they ever know.

Reports of the spread and the outbreak increased and evolved with a worldwide range. In just weeks cities were annihilated, countries infested with the new plague, and armies from all over were barely maintaining small places of safety. No one was able to escape the destruction, the murder, or the disease that was among them. Even more depressing was the fact that no one had any idea how to fight, or stop these demons.

As more people were attacked and transformed into these monstrous creatures, they started to appear more frequently. Society started noticing things about how they operated. With this knowledge, they began to learn to how to co-exist with the demons, how to combat the demons, and how to protect themselves from the demons. It was a changing world and man had to adapt or face extinction.

Some of the knowledge, which was learned and proved useful, was that no one ever seemed to be attacked during the daylight. In fact, no one had seen one of these creatures in the light. Mankind learned to hide and stay sheltered at night and do all tasks during the daylight hours. Cities and small forts were soon established and protected. Large gates built around them, surrounded with armed guards on all shifts. However, even with all man’s efforts there were always incidents of demons penetrating the gates of these protected areas.

The world was now over populated with these demon creatures. There are probably three times as many demons as there were people. Demons not only took the form of man, but all types of animals too. Many diverse and different beasts walked the earth now. They ruled every portion of the world, land, air, and sea. The demons were everywhere. To travel outside the safety of established communities was dangerous and almost guaranteed suicide. Even so, some folks lived on their own, outside the cities and forts, in the midst of the demon plague. The trick was to follow the basic rules, shelter at night, and activity providing resources, limited to the day.

Chapter 2

So the questions at this point are where do these creatures run to at night, where do they go, why do they hide? As with all questions, we soon find the answers. It turns out, they do not disappear too far from the eye, and they just hide. They hide wherever they can find darkness. They will take shelter in your home, in a cave, in the trunk of a car, possibly even under a rock considering there is enough room and darkness to hide there. Everyone had to be cautious as to where they went. Even during the day people had to explore dark areas with completely attentive attitudes.

People were finding it unsafe to go any place during the night. It was also difficult to keep their living areas safe and lit. Everyone living outside the cities and forts took great effort to guard and make their homes a defended retreat from the creatures. This was to avoid the possibility that a demon might take shelter there. Sometimes, more often than a person would believe, a demon would be residing in a home with the people. Demons can be well hidden in a home or a familiar place, and then of course when the time was convenient they would come out of their hiding, to devour whoever they could.

There is a story that a friend whom everyone knew as Wade told a few years ago. The story was about a child that was playing in an attic. Wade always started the story off by looking at his friend Matthew and saying, Killer, I’m about to tell you about the child in the attic. The story began that the child was young and did not fear the darkness as people who understood the danger did. The child heard a sound and decided to investigate; he was ultimately bitten by a small rodent-sized demon. Although the injury to the child was not life threatening, the bite was enough to infect him and of course, he was then transformed into a demon. There now were two demons in the attic, one that had the ability to open doors and move more freely throughout the house. These demons found their way downstairs during the night to the unfortunate child’s family. The child's sister had seen the demon coming down the stairs but before she could notify her family, being so stunned, she hid in a nearby cabinet. Before the rest of the family could understand why she was hiding, the two demons were already in their presence.

Everyone used to think that demons only attacked to spread the disease and keep reproducing. That all changed when a story came out about two demons that did not just kill a particular family, they ate them. It was then clear to everyone at this point that even demons must feed to survive. The story tells about a family under attack while a small girl hid in the cabinet and witnessed her family being eaten by two demons.

When the little girl finally emerged from the cabinet, she opened the doors to see her family torn, and devoured. All that was left of her family were chewed pieces of flesh. Body parts were soaking in blood all over the house. The walls and ceiling were dripping with blood. Before she could run away, she felt a squish under her feet and when she lifted her foot, she found that she was peering into her mother’s soft blue eye. She will never forget that image.

Many horror tales like this exist, of empty bodies lying around and dead bodies that were eaten alive. Everyone has, or knows someone that has, seen the horrors of these stories. There is nowhere on earth that is safe. There is no way to live without knowing what now haunts the darkness of our world. So many stories and horrible events are happening every day. At some point in life, everyone will endure a piece of the evil, which plagues the world.

In this demon-infested world, a two-man team begins a journey that will ultimately change everything. These two men are known as Wade and Killer. Wade and Killer are two men that deal with the demons quite regularly. They tell stories to keep the fear alive to those that are ignorant to the reality beyond the safety of their communities. Wade gave the nickname Killer to his friend Matthew after an incident where Matthew had to make a fast choice that took the lives of woman and child. His choice was made without any hesitation or thought, almost cold and heartless, as he carried out his actions. Despite how it sounds, Killer really did what had to be done during the circumstance he was faced with. This story will be told a little later.

People are now aware, that once someone is bitten or attacked by a demon they will turn into a demon as well. The only way to keep from turning after an attack is if they are the meal for the demon instead. Sometimes a person might encounter another person that has been attacked and they will try to help them, but nothing good ever comes from that. The injured person always turns into one of the unholy creatures. Although some people keep their humanity longer than others do, the fact remains the same, they always turn at some point.

The problem with hiding a demon attack is that whenever an infected person turns they endanger everyone around them. From the time an injured person turns, there are usually only a few moments for those nearby to get away. When the transformation begins to take place the person’s body changes traumatically. The change gives the demon enhanced abilities and it is capable of running much faster than a person can. The strength they have is also much greater. They are unstoppable, they feel no pain, and they are virtually and almost impossible to destroy.

It’s always best to know where someone goes, and where they are. That way when someone is injured by a demon everyone else will be aware. It is understood that when someone is attacked by a demon, he or she must be destroyed immediately and then beheaded. If you kill an infected person, but leave their head attached, they will still turn. In fact, the only way to destroy a demon is to behead it. A demon is much harder to behead or destroy than an infected
