    Good morning, Princess.

Ronnie Lambert grinned as she stretched, automatically reaching out for Gavin at the sound of his voice in her head. In the month since they forged their telepathic link, she still wasn’t used to hearing him but not having him within reach. Of course, her pseudo-mother, the Queen of Kalearnia, would have a few choice things to say if they were caught in bed together. Despite their cae’shyl, heart bond, Alina still refused to abolish Ronnie’s betrothal to Prince Wilhelm Smartonia from a planet of shape shifters. Will himself claimed to be a shape shifter but she’d never seen his ability in action. She often wondered what he shifted into.

Do you really need to think about him now? Gavin spoke up in her head, more amused than annoyed. Ronnie flushed and quickly pushed all thoughts of Will out of her mind.

Sorry, she thought to him sheepishly.

Are you ready to get up? He asked instead of commenting further.

I’m ready to see you. Where are you?

In the courtyard. Hurry down; I have something to show you.

The excitement in his voice radiated into her body, propelling her from the bed. She promised to hurry and pushed him out of her mind so she could get dressed. She couldn’t help wondering what he wanted to show her as she quickly changed into a pair of jeans and a t-shirt. She ran a brush through her waist length ebony locks and quickly plaited it into a hefty braid down her back. Once she felt presentable, she slipped on a pair of shoes and headed for the door.

You’ll want something warmer, Princess, Gavin told her. She paused in the doorway of her bedroom. Something warmer? Now he had her curiosity peaked. She turned around to grab a sweater from her wardrobe and then raced through the castle hallways to find Gavin. In the kitchen, one of the brownies handed her a steaming pastry as she passed through. She snagged a second one and walked into the courtyard.

She stopped dead at the sight before her. Gavin sat inside a huge white sleigh with gold scrollwork on the door. The sleigh was pulled by what looked like a big shaggy horse with thick white fur, small white wings and an ivory horn protruding from the center of its forehead. Completely black eyes regarded her curiously. The horse lifted its head towards her, sniffing the air as though sniffing her out – or maybe it smelled the pastries in
