About this ebook
If you know someone who has been, or is going to prison, you can use the pictures in this book to help them understand about life in prison.
In this story we see what happens to Dave, a man with learning disabilities, when he is sent to prison, and how hard he finds it. The story is told in pictures and will fit any crime or prison sentence. The pictures are designed to help the reader to ask questions or share their concerns.
Some people will be able to follow the story without any help. Most people will be able to follow the story with some help from you. Some will use the pictures to tell their own story.
You may want to give the person the whole book to look at, or you could choose just a few pictures that you think will be particularly relevant. The book will give you the opportunity to provide as much support and reassurance as is needed by the person you are supporting, and to answer their questions honestly.
As well as the pictures, a sample storyline is included, together with information on being in prison and where to find more help and advice.
