    A Visit to Heaven

Lord, I pray that you place a burning desire in our hearts to follow you always. Amen. Dad concluded his prayer. Amen, everyone around the dinner table echoed. And bless the food that we’ve already eaten, Tim pipes in, chewing on a stray pea he had popped into his mouth during prayer.

Tim has had a busy day and he is looking forward to a rest. After dinner, it’s time for a shower and then Tim gets to read a bit. Tonight he will be reading one of his favorite stories in the Bible – David and Goliath. What a battle that must have been. I wish I could have been there to see it happen, he wistfully thought, as he drifted off to sleep.

Tim looked at the pebble in his hand. It was cold and round. He rolled it around and hop, hop, he popped it up and down on his palm.

Hey little boy, have you come to play a game? a booming voice disrupted his musings. Fifty feet away stood the largest man Tim had ever seen, and he was looking straight at Tim.

Are you talking to me? Tim asked in astonishment.

Who do you think you are? Come here so that I can destroy you! the giant yelled. He swung his sword wildly around him as he glared at Tim. Shock coursed through Tim’s veins and he could feel his heart pounding in rhythm to the thousands of spears stomping on the ground. With huge eyes, he looked around the vast battlefield where soldiers lined both sides. All of them focused on the two lone figures opposing each other in the middle –Tim and Goliath!

Tim smelled the cloud of dust teased up by the stomping spears. This must be a nightmare, he thought, and turned his back on Goliath. Wake up, Tim! Wake up! he muttered to himself.

Goliath was livid. How dare you turn your back on me, little boy – I’ll have your liver for breakfast! he shouted at Tim.

This is way to real, Tim thought, with sweat forming on his brow. Put your visor on! Put your visor on! a voice reached him through all the noise. On your head! Put your visor on, Timothy!

    The Super Cool Visor!

Tim reached up and pulled the visor over his eyes. He looked at Goliath. Numbers and actions flashed in front of his eyes.

Action 1: Request bail out – low energy output, lose points.

Action 2: Fire pebbles – medium energy output, medium score.

Action 3: Hand to hand combat – high energy output, high risk, score according to outcome.

Action 4: Use prayer power – effective according to bars of faith available, minimum of 3 bars required to use.

Action 5: Combine any of the previous actions for maximum effect and points.

Warning: Fear cancels energy, faith and power; the higher the fear, the greater the loss.

The word Target flashed across Goliath’s forehead. Which action do you wish to initiate? Which action do you wish to initiate? a robotic voice repeated in Tim’s ear.

What a cool dream, Tim thought. Let’s use a combo of Action 2 and Action 4, he responded.

Great idea! Initiate on your command, the visor responded.

    Aim and Fire

Tim no longer felt alone; he was armed with a secret weapon. The visor displayed a Loaded signal. Ready to fire on your command. He loved the idea of gaining a victory for God’s nation.

I will conquer you Goliath, in the name of my Lord! Aim and fire! he shouted as he stared intently at his target. Five pebbles shot out in rapid succession, slaying Goliath right where he stood.

    Tim versus Goliath

The noise that followed was deafening. After seeing the giant fall dead to the ground, jubilant Israelis ran out and slew the enemy armies. Then a group of soldiers lifted Tim on their shoulders shouting and jumping for joy! Tim laughed in relief and excitement.

Are you going to stay here the whole time? a voice interrupted Tim’s victory dance. It was the same voice that had told him to use his visor. Tim looked around
