The fourth entry in the popular Cupcake Diaries series for middle-school-age children, shines the spotlight on Alexis Becker, who is the business champion of the four friends who make up the Cupcake Club. Alexis likes math and feels comfortable doing research and analyzing data before making decisions. She usually handles the finances for the club, but right now she can’t think straight because she is in a fog with a major crush on Matt Taylor, Emma’s older brother. Ah, the drama of first love! The flutters and stomach aches. The chance for a dance and the embarrassment of not being able to control a blush. But the middle-school years are full of more than just crushes. There are other issues including an older sister who is demanding all the attention lately, a fight with a best friend, a rival for the crush’s attention, a cupcake business to run, and math homework.I’m glad I had the chance to read these first four books, which introduce each of the Cupcake Club members. They’re delightful books with relatable characters and scenarios. I’d have no hesitation recommending them to middle-school students.

This book is about a girl named Alexis and her sister named Dylan. Dylan is having her sweet sixteen birthday party and she is very grumpy because a boy she likes hasn't RSVP for the party yet. Alexis and her friends Mia, Emma, and Katie are making cupcakes for Dylan's party. Alexis has a crush on Emma's brother, Matt. This is Alexis first crush. This book takes place in modern time. Alexis and her friends started a club called the Cupcake Club. At the end of the book Matt and Alexis dance at Dylan's party together. Dylan was upset about the dress Alexis was going to wear because it didn't match the theme color.I liked this book because there was a lot of talk about getting a boy to notice you and what to look like around him. I liked reading this because I liked the rest of the series and the characters were interesting. Someday I want to open my own cupcake company so this book caught my eyes. In the book there were some words that were hard to understand but eventually I figured them out. I want to keep reading this series because all the books are based on what the girls think. I liked reading about the description of the cupcakes and the different flavors. There are two girls in the book who try to act girly because one of the girls like Mat. I think you should speak your heart instead of staying in the shadows.
