Heartbroken and Mad
Too hell with love, Sandra thought as she watched Charlie drop his clients off at their car. She pulled out her cell phone and called him. He glanced at the phone then stuffed it back into his pocket. Charlie shook hands with his clients before walking into his real estate office. Sandra sat there for several more minutes dialing his number while staring at his 650 BMW. The car was freshly detailed.
That lying, cheating, bastard is going to pay, Sandra thought as she opened her car door. She looked both ways before crossing the street. A scowl spread across her face as she pulled out a chisel from her purse. Sandra walked along side Charlie’s car pressing the chisel into it. The paint peeled as the chisel dug deep into the door. She stood there defiantly looking at the scratch before walking over to the passenger’s side. She dug the chisel back into the car leaving another deep scratch.
He’ll think twice before he cheats on the next woman, Sandra thought as she walked back across the street. She sat in her car and stared back across the street at Charlie’s vehicle. She pulled out her phone and called him again. The phone rang several times; but he didn’t answer. Charlie’s voice mail picked up. Lying dog; you should have answered the phone.
Sandra called her closest friend, Gail and told her what happened. Gail shook her head. You are crazy,
she said. I can’t believe you went pass that man’s job and vandalized his car.
He’s lucky that’s all I did,
Sandra said. That man played me like a fool and I trusted him. There wasn’t anything I wouldn’t have done for him.
I told you to keep both eyes on that smooth-talking, pretty boy,
Gail said; When you first introduced him to me.
Hold on,
Sandra said. That’s Charlie beeping in on the other line.
Sandra clicked over.
Lunatic, I know you didn’t come down to my job and key my car,
Charlie yelled. You’re going to pay for this.
Whatever,
Sandra screamed. It wasn’t me. Check with one of your other tramps.
Sandra clicked back over to Gail. I can’t believe that loser called me up accusing me of scratching his car.
Gail burst out laughing. Like I said, you are crazy.
Sandra glanced at her phone. Charlie’s name flashed on the screen again. Somebody keys his car and now he wants to talk. If he would have answered his phone earlier maybe this wouldn’t have happened.
Enough about that loser,
Gail said. What’s up for this evening?
I need a drink,
Sandra said. Let’s go to Mi Hacienda.
I’m down for that,
Gail said. I’ll see you there.
She pressed down on the accelerator and sped off to the restaurant. A few minutes later they were both pulling into the parking lot in front of Mi Hacienda.
He’ll learn,
Sandra said as she strutted out of the car and into the restaurant. I’m not the one. You can’t just do or say anything to me and think things are going to be okay.
Gail followed close behind. They sat at a table with a window view.
Would you like something to drink?
a waiter asked.
Yes,
Gail responded. I’d like a shot of tequila and a margarita.
Ditto that,
Sandra said. And make those house drinks.
She looked down at her skirt and perfectly shaped legs. It won’t be long before some clown comes over here and offers to pay for our drinks, she thought.
Miss, I bet you don’t remember me,
a husky fellow asked Sandra. The waiter returned with their drinks before she could answer. Gail ordered naked wings, celery with ranch, and barbeque sauce on the side. He stood there waiting for a response.
Sandra scanned him from head to toe with a menacing expression on her face. Why would I remember you? She thought. A fat boy looking like he stepped out of a thrift store catalogue. She looked into his eyes. You’re right, I don’t remember you.
He pulled out his wallet and flipped out his badge. I’m officer Phats,
he said. Sandra’s frown turned into a smile. If that joker would have put his hands on you that day; I would have beat him some kind of bad.
That’s the officer,
Sandra said, while turning toward Gail. Remember that day I told you Charlie raised his hand up at me like he was going to hit me.
Sandra turned back toward Phats. That’s the officer who put him in his place.
Are you still dating him?
Phats asked.
No,
Sandra said as she showed Phats all of her missed calls from Charlie. I’m through with him but he’s taking it really bad.
Gail lowered her head trying not laugh.
Do you mind?
Phats asked. If I grab a seat and sit down.
No,
Sandra said, not at all; you’re paying.
Gail folded her arms and looked across the table at her. He grabbed a chair. They ordered chicken quesadillas and a round of top shelf margaritas.
Delicious,
Phats said as he munched on quesadillas and gulped margarita. He tilted his drink back and finished it off then motioned the waiter back to the table. We’ll have three shots of Patron.
The waiter quickly returned with their drinks. They raised their drinks and toasted to new beginnings.
This is exactly what I needed, Sandra thought. Something to take my mind off that loser, Charlie. She took a bite from her chicken quesadilla followed by a sip of margarita. He makes the best drinks,
she said while glancing over at the bartender.
Ladies it has been a blast,
Phats said. But I’ve got to go to work.
He turned toward Sandra. You are beautiful. I’d love to take you out on a date. Could I please have your number?
I just got out of a relationship,
Sandra said while maintaining eye contact. I’m practicing abstinence. But if you still want to be my friend. I’ll give you my number.
Sandra motioned the waiter back over to the table before writing down her number. Phats paid the bill then they exchanged information.
I’ll be calling you soon,
Phats said before hustling off to work.
Practicing abstinence,
Gail repeated; If Charlie came in here talking all the right talk you’d be on your back tonight looking up into his eyes.
Well, he’s not Charlie,
Sandra said. He’ll be doing all the treating. And I don’t have to worry about catching feeling or putting out.
They finished off their margaritas before leaving the restaurant.
Ladies, what’s the rush?
a fellow asked as they walked toward their cars. One of his buddies pulled up in a sports car. Stay awhile; have a drink. It’s on me.
A wide grin spread across his face.
He’s fine, Sandra thought while admiring his physique. Are you married, in love, and or living with your baby’s mama?
she asked.
Yes and no,
the fellow responded. I do live with my baby’s mama, but I’m not in love.
Just what I need another pretty boy/womanizer in my life, Sandra thought. She took a step closer to him. You don’t want me to come have a drink with you,
Sandra said. Because I will knock on your front door and introduce myself to your wife.
You better believe it,
Gail said. She has knocked on a few doors before.
Sandra stared at him intensely as he stood there speechless. Play games if you want,
she said. I’m not the one.
She turned and walked to her car. Good-for-nothing-loser, she thought while pulling away from the parking space.
Twenty minutes later Sandra pulled into her driveway. She clicked the remote to deactivate the alarm system then strolled into the house. Her phone chimed as she walked upstairs. Charlie’s name flashed on the screen. What?
she asked
