    Chapter 1

    The Amulet

    An amulet of incredible power

    A power divided

    A family divided

    Brother and sister torn apart

    Reunification is destined

Ha, ha! Mine blade hath seemed to have meteth thine eye.

Very good, Sire. The servant collapsed onto the marble floor.

Prince Angelo casually retrieved his sword. You there, be a dear and clean the brains off my sword and do hurry. I want to get in another sparring before dinner. The servant scuttled off. Two other servants dragged the body out the door, brains still gushing out from the holes on either side of his head. The silence was broken by a slow clapping. Prince Angelo spun around, only to be greeted by two familiar faces. One was a plump man in very elegant clothing and a golden crown on top of his slightly balding head. The other was a wrinkly old man with a long and tangled beard, which was imprisoning a squirrel at the moment. His robes were grey and tattered, and he was carrying a stick.

Father, what are you doing here? And is that Ixne, the white wizard? I thought we put him in an institution.

No time for chit chat, Angelo, we have very important news. You know that long lost sister you are destined to find…

I told you, Dad; it’s on my to-do list, Jesus Christ!

Well, it’s been on your to-do list for quite some time, so Ixne and I decided to take direct action and find her. Well, we found her. Angelo, meet your long-lost sister, Princess Sarah. The king motioned towards the door. Angelo looked up and watched two guards escort a repulsive peasant into the room.

Oy, get yer ‘ands off me.

    She’s a princess?

Oi swear she were dead when oi got dere. You got the wrong one, you do. Oim innocent.

    It’s okay; that’s not why you’re here.

    It isn't?

No, we are here to discuss your past.

    Me past?

Do you know anything about your parents?

Parents? Aint got ’em. Oi look out fo me’sef. Born on da streets oi is.

What if I were to tell you I am your father and this is your brother?

Oi’d think you were a loon.

    You’re a princess.

Oy, does this ‘ave anything to do with this amulet oi have? The princess reached into her pocket and pulled out a broken amulet.

Yes, yes! The family amulet. It is foretold that the two pieces will reunite, giving the wearer ultimate power and bringing peace to the kingdom. Angelo has the other piece.

Dat me brother? Roit pleased to meet you oi is. Oi imagine we have some catch’n up to do.

Yeah, yeah, pleased to meet you. I’ve dreamt of this day for a long time, yada yada yada. So about this ultimate power.

I’ll let Ixne explain this part. The king got up out of his chair and slapped Ixne, who was sound asleep. Wake up. The old man opened his eyes and got up. I was just telling them about the amulet.

"Ohhhhhh yesssssss, the ancient family amulet. Well, you see, a long time ago I was in a town square. Only it really wasn’t a square; it was more of a circle. Now on this particular day, I was looking
