About this ebook

A good girl with a broken heart walks into a bar, ready for revenge.

Maddy has dumped her cheating fiancé, but she's still stuck in a new city with a lonely, aching heart. What better way to get over a cheating fiancé than to get a little wild? She thinks that margaritas and a one night stand will cheer her up.

But the bartender knows better: Michael can see that Maddy deserves more than a hook-up with some jerk. He knows just the thing to get her over her heartbreak and her hangover.

After all, if a one-night stand is done right, why would you leave it at only one night?

    The Bartender

I plopped down on my favorite barstool just like I used to do every Friday night. My fiancé Grant and I had become regulars here at Doc Maynard's ever since we moved to Portland six months ago. It was the right mix of noisy and quiet, popular and casual. Most weekends, they had live music, which made it easy to sit there and watch if you didn't feel like talking to anyone.

But tonight was different: No fiancé sitting next to me. Somehow, in the space between a few Friday nights, we had gone from engaged and happy (I thought we were), to catching him cheating, breaking up with him, and him moving to his new girlfriend's apartment on the other side of town. I had taken a few weeks to lie around pitying myself, but now I just wanted to be here - in my favorite bar, showing myself that life could go on.

I had thought that going out would cheer me up. I would drink (a lot) and have some fun, maybe meet someone new, and avoid sitting home alone feeling pathetic. After all, I was single, liberated and had an open tab. It should be fun, right? But I didn't have any friends in this new city yet so I couldn't call up a pack of girlfriends to take me out for sympathy drinks. Somehow being out alone was making me feel worse that sitting at home alone.

So I sat on my favorite barstool in my favorite bar, feeling pathetic. I should get wasted, and pick up some random guy, and get laid. Then I'd feel better, I muttered into
