    Chapter One

Oh my God! Jania Childs yelled. Who are you? She stared at the stranger whose back was turned to her as she leaped out of the hotel king sized bed.

Her screams woke him up, causing him to turn toward her. Now she could see the mysterious man that caused her to leap out of the bed. His skin appeared so pale, his left arm was covered in tattoos, and she couldn’t take her eyes off the word Faith which was largely inked in dark, old English letters on his chest. She wanted to know the background story, because most white guys she knew didn’t believe in God.

He sat up in bed and frowned at her. Listen, woman, I don’t have time for your screaming this early. This marriage isn’t going to work if I can’t get any sleep, he said in a husky voice.

She frowned at him. Marriage. Who was he referring to? The possibility of them being married was impossible. Her family disliked white people and they embedded in her at an early age that she should only date within her race.

She glared at him, not believing what she’d just heard. What was this man doing in her bed and where did he get marriage from? She looked down at her left hand Jania’s brown eyes widened when she saw the ring on her left hand, she covered her mouth with her right hand, and took a deep breath. What, when, where, and how did she end up married to this man she didn’t even know?

This had to be a joke somehow she landed herself on Punk’d and Ashton Kutcher would come out to tell her she just got punked. Moments passed by and no one came through the door.

Jania walked over to him and sat next to him on the king size hotel bed. Her mouth curled up, and she demanded Look, I need some answers. He sat up in bed with and looked at her.

Who are you and how in earth did we get married? You didn’t drug me last night at the bar, did you? She glowered at him waiting for a response.

Blake shook his head. He reached out to touch Jania’s hand but she pulled away. I’m Blake Harrison, and no, I didn’t drug you. He placed his feet on the carpet. I guess we had too much tequila last night and now we’re married. He watched her. You kept going on and on about how you didn’t drink and only sinners drink.

Her gut feeling told her not to go to that bar last night and this was exactly why. Every time she tried to live right something would hold her back. She had been sober for a year and half, but she’d relapsed. How could she have agreed to get married to a complete stranger? Her family would kill her once they find out.

Blake Harrison’s name didn’t ring any bells. Had she really had too much to drink that she didn’t remember how she got there? Something wasn’t adding up and she needs to get to the bottom of it.

Liquor was her weakness. She couldn’t control her actions when she drank, so she decided it was best to stay away from it, but she was tempted to drink. This was the main reason why she stayed away from liquor, because of the consequences. Her mother prayed with her about it and she managed to stay away from it for about a year. On her trip she decided to celebrate her new job venture, so she had a drink that turned into too many.

Blake physically wasn’t the man she imagined marrying. As a young girl she envisioned having a huge fairytale wedding. She wanted a huge guest list and the best reception that people would tell their grandchildren about. A beautiful big white wedding gown with a long train trailing behind her. Her father would walk her down the aisle only to give her away to the finest dark-skinned man she she’d ever laid eyes on.

    My name is—

He interrupted her, and saying, I know its Jania Amara Harrison. I think my last name fits you well.

She rolled her eyes. She had heard enough and she couldn’t get over the fact that this was really happening. But the man sitting on that bed
