    Chapter 1

Even though the city was bustling with people, it looked quite neat. It wasn’t a haphazard scatter of people and busyness. It was ordered and organized like the files of an accountant. Nothing was out of place as long as it followed the rules of the city. Even the businessmen in suits that were currently scuttling down the road like spiders on all fours with their bodies faced upwards did so in quite an orderly fashion. So, their incongruous presence did not disturb the rhythm of the city. It was ordered, so no one noticed that something was wrong. It wasn’t obvious to the untrained eye. The trained eye that was watching this scene with concern was on a mountain far away. It belonged to Si.

Si watched with her eyes narrowed as images from the entire world poured into her third eye that was the space between her two eyebrows. She picked up the strangest vision from all the information pouring in. That was indeed strange, she thought as she watched the spider like men on the road. Is this a part of evolution? It just did not seem right to her. The Mayan Council would absolutely have to send a group of Maya to the Great Forest and talk to Mother Tree.

She resumed her meditation in the mountain caves that were home to the Maya. The Maya were absolutely essential to life experience. They constantly created illusions so that different species would experience them and live life learning the lessons it had to offer. Without illusions of love, anger, need and the others, life would be the same every day. Time would not exist. The Maya kept life moving forward just like the trees did.

The Maya were divided into various orders according to their specialty. These were the fool, the magician, the priestess, the empress, the emperor, the hierophant, the lovers, the chariot, strength, the hermit, wheel of fortune, justice, the hanged man, death, temperance, the devil, the tower, the star, the moon, the sun, judgment and the world. Probables traveled to the Maya Mountains from all over the world regardless of status. To be Mayan is to be above all and below all. Their first test was always the ability to find the Heart of Maya, as the mountains were known, which was a travel enthusiast and therefore always shifting.

All across the world were the Great Castles – the magic elevators that could move anywhere through the world. Although it looked quite small, it was infinite from inside and could transform into a room or rooms according to what the Mayans needed. Sometimes it was as huge as several castles as the occasion demanded. There was one currently at the foot of the mountain where the Mayan witches mostly stayed.
