Bask. The Dreamer's Guide to Reaching for the Stars While Realizing You Have Already Caught the Moon - Darcee Hope Matlen
Introduction
Bask: –verb. To enjoy a pleasant situation
People are powerful. We create goals and dreams early on in life and achieve them one by one. Some are short-term, like do well on an exam, and others are long-term, like marry a wonderful man and have lots of children. Of course there are the fairytale dreams about becoming a princess, but those usually fall by the wayside or morph over time, unless of course you are Kate Middleton, but I digress.
I have always been a dreamer. I was lucky to have a supportive family, so any far-fetched whim I came up with was encouraged. I decided in high school that I wanted to be a fashion designer and move to New York City to attend fashion school for college. My family supported me, and off I went to the big city. I learned a lot, mostly about the school of hard knocks, and I eventually moved home. My big dream of becoming a wife and mother was the only one that stayed with me over the years, and it was always lurking in the back of my mind. I held jobs, took classes, and kept busy with friends, but finding myself and living the life I wanted was my constant mission.
This book is about looking at your current hopes and dreams, setting new goals if you haven't done this in a while, and finding moments to stop and revel in the good things that your life has to offer. We all have ups and downs, but life can be amazing if we just spend a little time focusing on the wonderful things around us. I will share a bit about my ''basking" techniques and offer tips on finding the good even in tough situations. You will be amazed at how much joy you can experience if you bask in today while you dream of tomorrow.
After searching for myself well into my twenties, I eventually met the man of my dreams, and a few years later we got married and I became pregnant. At that time we were living in his house, and I wanted desperately to sell the house and get a new one that was closer to my family, bigger, and ours. The market was awful, and we could not find a buyer. I wanted this move with every inch of my soul, and
