    Eternally Yours - Heather Mar-Gerrison

    Chapter 1

Hey, you. Serena called as she spotted her boyfriend, George, over by the football pitch.

He looked up at the sound of her voice and grinned, Hey, gorgeous! he shouted back. George jumped up and made his way over to greet his girlfriend. They had been going out with each other for almost two years now and were both in the 6th form.

George was nearly eighteen and had recently taken to driving to college in the mornings with his mother as his passenger. She then took the car home again, as he hadn’t yet passed his test.

He wrapped his arms around her waist and kissed her.

So, Mr Edmonds, She hugged him back and grinned up at him. anything interesting to tell me? George had got much taller in the last two years and now stood at six feet three inches. Serena thought he was the most beautiful boy she had ever seen and was immensely proud to be his girlfriend.

George was equally as proud to be her boyfriend. He grinned back down at her. She was only small at five feet, two. Nothing much, Babe. I got here in one piece though, so that’s a bonus! They both laughed.

Hey, guys. They both turned and saw Harry coming bounding up to them. Harry Jones was George’s best mate. Before Serena and George started dating more regularly and became an item, George and Harry were pretty much inseparable. Things had changed quite a lot over the last two years. Serena had reached vampire maturity at sixteen, which meant she was full of confusion about the feelings she was experiencing. Having never known her father up to that point, she had absolutely no idea that she was half-vampire and had been horrified by the changes that were occurring in herself. Her thirst for blood was at its strongest at that point and she’d suffered through more than a few problems. With the help of her understanding parents and George, though, she’d pulled through and now that she understood what she needed to satisfy the thirst, she was no longer a danger to her fellow students. She had got her blood-hunger entirely under control and no longer suffered recurring dreams of biting people. Harry too had been relinquished of his duties as a Vampire Slayer and things had settled down back to a nice normal way of life. Serena was happier than she had ever been.

Hi, Harry. Serena beamed at him. She had dated him in the past, before she realised that George and she were meant to be together and she was very fond of him. Harry liked Serena too, but again, only as a friend.

Harry never seemed to have a girlfriend, which Serena thought a little odd, since he was extremely good-looking and very good company. She had mentioned this to George on more than one occasion, but George didn’t seem to think it was a problem. He’s into football and cricket, Serena, he said with a shrug, he just isn’t into dating...

George punched his mate on the arm and ruffled his hair affectionately. Yo, dude! Where did you come from?

I just got here, he said, slightly breathlessly, I stayed over at Josh’s house last night. Anyway, I’ve really gotta run, or I’ll miss registration. Harry checked his watch and pulled a face. He dashed off towards the Science labs. George watched him go with a slightly annoyed look on his face, Huh, Josh, Josh, Josh, he grumbled, he’s all he ever talks about!

Serena regarded George with undisguised amusement, "Stop being so jealous! He’s just found someone to hang out with while you’re with me. You can’t blame him, George, you do spend a lot of time at mine."

George grinned and nodded his agreement, I guess I do. Come on. Harry was right, we’ll be late too if we don’t get a move on. He grabbed her hand and they ran towards the English block.

    Chapter 2

Serena. Can I speak with you a moment?

Serena had just got through the front door after what had felt like a particularly long day (She only had one lesson with George). She looked up to find her dad waiting for her in the hallway.

Sure, Dad, she yawned, What’s up?

Felipe Garcia had once been a fully-fledged vampire, but after a visit to the vampire elders, he had requested that his mortality be re-instated. The elders had granted his wish, which had almost killed him, but he was now as human as anyone and was ageing at the same rate as everyone else.

He was worried about his daughter, though. She was half-vampire, after all and therefore had to have some vampire traits other than the blood-hunger. He wanted to know more, but didn’t relish visiting the elders again in his human form. He also didn’t like the idea of sending Serena to them alone. He had been researching second-generation vampires and had tracked down a young man (or at least he looked young) he had once known quite well. He didn’t want to cause trouble for him, though, and was in two minds as to whether he should attempt contact at all.

He turned and looked at Serena with eyes the exact same shade of unusual silver as she had. I’ve been researching your kind and I need to talk to you about it.

Oh, Dad, Serena complained, making a face, Can’t it wait? George will be here any minute.

Maybe George would be interested in this, too. Felipe replied soberly.

Serena looked at her dad, instantly a little worried by his serious tone. Why? she asked, a creeping feeling going through her, Is it something serious? There aren’t more slayers on the way, are there? She looked horrified at the thought.

Felipe laughed with relief, Good Heavens, no, darling, nothing like that. he assured her.

Well, what then? Serena was intrigued.

"I’ve found out that this young man. Well, I say young but actually he’s been around quite a long time. He lives not so very far from here and I would be happy to ask him to come and talk to you. I can’t promise that he will visit us, but it’s worth a shot." Felipe looked as though he really wanted Serena to agree with him. She wasn’t so convinced.

Why? We really don’t need any more people finding out about us, Dad. She looked worried.

Nobody will, assured Felipe. Believe me. He won’t want to be found out any more than we would.

Serena raised an eyebrow. If Felipe had managed to track this guy down, surely someone else with a healthy interest in the subject of vampires might do, too... "So, just how did you find out about him?"

Felipe rubbed his temples. It was still difficult for him to recollect all of his past. He thought he’d pieced everything back together, but great, gaping gaps still existed.

He was in York when I went back to the elders. Felipe explained slowly. "It took me years to remember everything from then, but he had quite an unusual name, it got kind of etched on my memory.

What was it? Serena was imagining all kinds of exotic-sounding names and was a little deflated when her father told her the name.

    Zachary O’Neill. Felipe said.

And you thought that was unusual? Serena raised an eyebrow. What was so unusual about that name?

Well, I thought it was unusual, at the time. He shrugged his shoulders and looked a little put out.

Serena rolled her eyes, Fine, whatever. She sighed.

    Felipe grinned.

    Chapter 3

George was at that precise moment, making his way to Serena’s house. Since Felipe’s return and subsequent takeover of the coffee shop in the village, Serena and her mother no longer lived in the little two-up, two-down house in the centre of the village.

Felipe had accumulated quite a decent sum of money over his many, many years in existence and they now had a wonderfully comfortable home on a new development just outside of Heron Cove.

Being quite a canny business man, Felipe
