    Foreward

Being that it was just an MCL, I did physical therapy but did not opt to have surgery right away. Instead, I continued to play on it that soccer season.

About six months later I tore the MCL the rest of the way through as well as tearing my ACL. I underwent knee surgery and three months later was back playing soccer again (it’s good to be young!).

The knee problems would continue, sending me in and out of physical therapy several times over the next few years. Then, in 2000 the knee cap on my other leg slid out out of place and stayed locked completely on the outside of my knee. It was less than fun. Another round of physical therapy (after popping it back into place) and I was back into running and soccer again (what can I say – I’m a glutton for punishment).

Five years later, I found myself back under the knife again for a torn ACL and meniscus. After the hack job I received on this one, I did not rebound so quickly. In fact, I tried desperately to run but my post surgery knee just wouldn’t allow it. The pain and instability were so great that, despite my best efforts, I
