    ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

Anytime you undertake an endeavor such as this, you recognize that without the support of your family and others success would be difficult.

Naturally, if God hadn’t infused a 15-year old boy with the call to go into ministry this book would have never been written. No matter what I accomplish in my life the glory goes to Him.

I want to thank my wife, Linda, for her ongoing support and understanding during the writing of this book. In addition, I want to thank Lisa Kelly, of Prairie Design Group, for her outstanding work on the paperback version in the design of the book’s cover. She can be reached at www.prairiedesigngroup.com. My thanks go out to Linda Caplow and Kathy Martin for their hard work. They were instrumental in reviewing the manuscript and offering their wisdom for the book’s format and in cleaning it up, making the book even better.

I thank the many others who have unwittingly contributed to this book over the years, even though they may not know it, by allowing me to teach them God’s Word thereby gaining insight through preparation to be faithful to the Word.

    FORWARD

Every author writes because of the feeling there’s something that needs to be said to the masses to communicate their thoughts or truth as they see it. Ask any author and he will tell you the labor of love it took to write this particular work. In Bob Weigand’s Message in the Miracle I can tell you that Bob has truly accomplished his goals.

As you read this book, your faith will be built and strengthened and new insight into the Word of God will be gained. Bob knows all too well that of which he writes. In understanding the Message in the Miracle two things must be grasped: first, when you need a miracle, something is desperately wrong; second, to look for the message in the miracle speaks of an individual whose thought process is not shallow, ungrateful or superficial. It speaks of someone who is eternally grateful and a willingness to look into the message in the miracle speaks of a desire to give God full praise for all He has done.

As I read this book, my heart was challenged and my faith grew as I began to reflect not only on the messages of the miracles chosen in this book, but how the Lord speaks to all of us in the miracles He performs in our lives.

In conclusion sit down, buckle up because you’re going for a ride to a new destination of faith and a wonderful understanding of God’s will and plan for your life.

    INTRODUCTION

    The Reason For Miracles

Remember the Miracle Mets of 1969? They were a bumbling group of players taking part in the great American pastime of baseball. I went to many of their games wondering if they would ever win more games than they lost. Like most fans, I too, prayed for a miracle.

The day the Mets finally won the World Series all the headlines blared Miracle Mets. But, was it a miracle?

What do we really know about miracles? Or even better, what do they tell us? Over the next twelve chapters, we will travel on a journey through twelve of the many miracles in the Bible. This journey will uncover what God is saying to us through the power of miracles.

God speaks to us through miracles. The Bible gives us three reasons why miracles happen.

All miracles are to glorify God.

They happen for the good of man.

    Miracles authenticate Jesus’ ministry.

God’s love and care for His creation is the core purpose for His doing miracles in the lives of His people.

The word miracle comes from the Latin word miraculum, which means something wonderful. It is truly something wonderful when God intervenes on our behalf and for our benefit or His glory.

Unfortunately, people toss around the word miracle without regard for the true nature of a miracle. Marketing gurus use the word to hype products. There’s Miracle Ear, Miracle Grow, the Miracle Diet, and we can’t forget movies like Miracle on 34th Street. Sadly, one televangelist entices donations with gifts of Miracle Spring Water. All this does is obscure and weaken the real meaning and purpose of miracles, reducing them to simple marketing schemes.

Miracles are not weird science. In fact, they are not science at all; at least not science as we know it. God is a God of order and His order has a purpose. He shares His plans to us in various ways. First and foremost, God speaks and reveals His plan for us through His Word.

God also speaks to us through the power of His miracles. In the Hebrew Bible, the Tanakh, God is often seen intervening in the laws of nature on Israel’s behalf, by suspending or speeding up laws of nature to carry out His plan or His will for our lives.

The Bible tells us that God created matter out of nothing and imparted life
