Diana’s Dreams

I would have wanted to start this story with, Once upon a time, but many of you are nonbelievers in fairy tales. We have grown so skeptical with life that we let our disbelief cloud our judgment. We allow our heads to do all the thinking for us instead of our hearts. What a pity! But all is not lost, for there are still people who believe in fairy tales and some that actually experience them firsthand. Fairy tales do happen to normal people like you and I. So all you nonbelievers and believers alike, let me tell you a modern-day fairy tale of a girl named Diana and her prince charming that happened not so long ago.

Diana was a simple girl living in a small town, but she always had a desire to do something worthwhile with her life. She was not sure what it would be, but she wanted to make the world a better place than the way she found it.

My existence in this world must have a purpose! She thought. I’m just a small speck on this earth. I need to discover what I can do in this life.

Diana grew up dreaming that one day she would do something to help the less fortunate people of this world.

To start, she helped the needy people in her own community. She would fetch groceries for her elderly neighbors, baby-sit kids for working mothers, or even simply give her lunch to the homeless man on the corner.

Every Sunday, Diana volunteered at the local community center, and as part of a Strike Out Hunger team, she collected leftover food from the local delis and restaurants to give to the local shelters.

Not only was Diana philanthropic, but she was also a romantic at heart. She always believed that somewhere in this world, a special person waited, someone meant just for her. He will come for me, she thought. My prince will come and sweep me off my feet.
