The Year 2013: Begin at the Beginning, Part I
My name is James Will Master Power. I teach basic Metaphysics on YouTube. Many of the MetaChannel viewers are wondering, What happened to James Power?
or Where did he go?
or Why did he disappear in 2013? And, when is he coming back?
Much of the answer to these questions has to do with 2013, the energy associated with the year 2013, and what the year represented for me and for humanity as a whole. When I wrote the book, 2012: the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, I pointed out a few very important things. First and foremost, I saw 12/21/2012 as being the date to end all dates. That is, people would stop looking for prophetic signs in dates beyond 2012. Pre-2013, the dates themselves had the effect of galvanizing consciousness. A date itself could be a sign of the times. Do you remember Prince’s hit song 1999? It was a constant reminder to people that a new millennium just might bring something new.
The Year 2012 focused our attention. The idea (valid or otherwise) that the world as we know it could have come to an abrupt end had the effect of raising eyebrows. Raised eyebrows are a sign of raised awareness and raised awareness is a sign of piqued consciousness. In 2012, we were more concerned about our place in the cosmic order of things. We developed a greater interest in what affects us both globally and on quantum levels. Neil DeGrasse Tyson and Michio Kaku became household names. To some, it appeared we were on our way. Then, what happened? Well, the year 2012 passed. And, in reflecting back, there were some events of note. Some things happened, but nothing that really tore at the fabric of our reality. This left the status quo seemingly firmly intact.
The year 2013 came and there were no prophecies of importance to really focus our attention. All of that happened in the days, months, and years leading up to December 21, 2012, which marked the end of the Mayan calendar. And, while some would willingly admit to having developed some interest in the cycles of time and time’s effect on our world and reality itself in 2012, others secretly surfed the web as a means of determining if the events associated with 2012 would have any significant effect on their lives.
The human brain is wired for what could be called collective agreement. Scientists are studying what is called the social brain and the brain chemicals and processes associated with social interaction. Even among spiritual people, agreement is sought. As a rule, human beings simply do not like to go it alone. So, the possibilities associated with 2012 became part of the collective agreement. Some would suggest that people were nuts for buying into the hype. However, collective agreement differs from groupthink. According to Irving Janis, author of Victims of Groupthink, those who fall victim to groupthink are normally people of similar backgrounds who are insulated from outside opinions. Well, all kinds of people were talking about 2012. Hollywood even made a few movies about the end-times. What will the future bring?
was the question of the moment.
So, beyond 2012 I could foresee a time of confusion. There were no more dates of note. There were no more markers. 1999 had passed, and so had 2000 AD and the fizzle that was Y2K. 2010 was not the year we made contact. And, the year 2012, well we all know what happened in 2012—nothing remarkable, unless you were affected by one of our world’s great storms that year. In the book, 2012: the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, I referred to
