    Chapter 1: The Unexpected Mate

His name was Alep Denu, a majestic Leviathan who had lived for over three thousand years. He had always yearned for one thing above all else—a true mate. As a Leviathan, Alep knew that one day his destined mate would call out to him. And when she did, he would find her and bind her to him in a sacred ritual. Last night, when Alep heard Lavender's soul reaching out to his, he felt an overwhelming sense of joy. He had visited her in her dreams countless times over the years, but having her close to him now was beyond his wildest dreams. He had waited for nearly three hundred years to be with her. When she began calling to him in her dreams a few years ago, Alep grew restless and started searching for her in the physical world. He knew that when he found her, she would still be young enough to undergo the ancient Leviathan bonding, ensuring they could spend eternity together.

Alep considered himself fortunate that Lavender had called to him at such a tender age. Finding and bonding with a true mate was an exceedingly rare occurrence among Leviathans. Most Leviathans who found their mates didn't have the opportunity to bond with them, as their human counterparts had already lived too long and were no longer capable of undergoing the ritual. That's why most Leviathan couples consisted of a Leviathan and a human. By sharing their immortal essence with their human mates, their partners' lives would be extended three to five times longer than a normal human's. If Alep hadn't found Lavender, he would have gladly spent three hundred plus years loving his human mate. And when Lavender's time came to an end, Alep would have joined her in the eternal embrace of the Leviathan realm.

Last night, when Lavender's soul called out and expressed its readiness to bond with his, it should have been the happiest day of his life. But now, as the sun shone brightly outside, Alep lay alone in his bed while Lavender was probably less than a thousand feet away from him. She should have been by his side, but instead, she didn't even know he truly existed.

Alep burst through the verdant clearing, catching his first glimpse of his astonishingly beautiful mate. She was truly enchanting. Alep had anticipated her to be the most breathtaking female he had ever laid eyes on, but in reality, she surpassed his expectations. With cascades of gorgeous shoulder-length, curly red hair that framed her face like flames of passion, she stood a little over five foot seven, boasting a shapely yet sporty body frame—a perfect combination of athleticism and curves in all the right places.

Alep moved slowly towards her, his breath hitching as he closed the distance between them. He watched with rapt fascination as her body swayed back and forth in an almost hypnotic rhythm, like a dancer in tune with the melody of the universe, as she awaited his embrace. Their souls were yearning to intertwine, initiating the sacred bonding of true mates. His heart and soul ached to unite with hers. His fangs slid effortlessly into his mouth, preparing to taste her exquisite essence, savoring the essence of their eternal connection. Alep was mere inches away from completing the ancient bonding ritual with his perfect true mate when he was abruptly overwhelmed by the scent of danger. The unmistakable scent of a forbidden enchantment—a spell of lethal potency to a Leviathan—pierced his senses. It was Lavender's scent. His true mate was under a dark curse—a curse that threatened her life and the very fabric of their bond.

His mind reeled with the revelation. How could his mate, his perfect mate, be under such a curse? Alep sniffed again, hoping that his nose had deceived him the first time. It hadn't. She was undeniably under the influence of a forbidden enchantment. This should have been impossible. Leviathans were nearly invulnerable, their lives bound to their own will, and death only coming by their own choice. The curse on Lavender seemed to defy all laws of magic and immortality.

Unlike other beings, Leviathans were nearly indestructible, with no known method to kill them. They possessed immense power and were impervious to most forms of harm. However, Alep knew that there were legends and ancient texts that spoke of the Leviathan's secret vulnerabilities. It was said that Leviathans could only be killed if they willingly chose to end their own lives. The method of achieving this remained shrouded in mystery and was known only to the most ancient and wise among them.

The curse that afflicted Lavender was a cruel twist of fate. It had not only robbed her of the chance to bond with Alep but had also sentenced her to a shortened lifespan. She was mortal, her life couldn't be prolonged by their ancient bonding, and he could never break the curse that bound her. They could never truly unite as one, a union that was the pinnacle of a Leviathan's existence—a merging of souls and life force.

Without the ability to complete the sacred bonding ritual, Alep would continue to exist in eternal longing, his heart forever restless, and their souls forever separated. His soul would ache terribly, and his heart would only beat when she was in his presence. Tears welled up in his eyes at the mere thought of it. He had found Lavender, but their time together would be tragically brief.

Leaving her last night had been agonizingly difficult. She had stood there, her soul calling out to his, begging him to join her in the sacred dance. Alep had yearned to oblige, but it would have been so much easier if she had been free from the curse. However, a powerful spell had suddenly emerged, casting an impenetrable barrier between Alep and Lavender. Alep forced himself to move away from her, ensuring he didn't inadvertently harm her while he pathetically fought against the curse. In that moment, Alep witnessed the strength and determination in Lavender's eyes—a clear indication of her resilience and love for him, as she was willing to face her own mortality, despite the consequences.

Alep sniffed again, hoping against hope that his nose had misled him the first time. Unfortunately, Lavender's scent confirmed it—she was undeniably under the influence of a curse. After one last longing look at her and the ethereal barrier that separated them, Alep made his decision. He would have to find a way to break the curse and explain everything to her in the coming days. No matter what, he was determined to keep her safe and happy. Even if it meant silently enduring his own pain.

With a heavy heart, Alep turned and sprinted away from Lavender. The feeling was akin to having his heart shattered into a million pieces. He resolved to find a solution, to break the curse that bound her and ensure their souls could unite. Every day and night they spent together would be crafted perfectly for her. He would be by her side in the waking world and the dream world, cherishing every precious moment of their limited time together. And when Lavender's last breath approached, Alep too would seek solace in the deepest depths of the Leviathan realm, embracing his final rest, knowing that their love had transcended all barriers.

    Chapter 2: Enchantments

Lavender found herself immersed in the midst of a captivating dream, a dream where she finally encountered her true love. In this reverie, she beheld a magnificent Leviathan with captivating golden eyes that held a hint of mystery and allure, reminiscent of ancient Egyptian royalty. He possessed an otherworldly charm that transcended time, his features sculpted with an exquisite precision that spoke of divine craftsmanship.

His chiseled jawline, strong and defined, hinted at the wisdom accumulated through centuries of existence. Adorned with a perfectly trimmed beard, it accentuated his regal countenance, lending an air of authority and sophistication. His skin, kissed by the Egyptian sun, boasted a warm, bronzed hue, as if infused with the essence of desert sands.

But it was his eyes that truly captivated Lavender's gaze. Like two gleaming orbs of polished gold, they sparkled with an ethereal light, reflecting the wisdom of ancient civilizations and the depths of a thousand lifetimes. Within their depths, she could sense a profound knowledge and a hidden world waiting to be explored.
