    Dedication

Daughters of Judah is dedicated to my grandmother, Pinkey Ernestine Bradley and my mother, Annie Mae Zanders. These two women gave me the foundation of faith I have today. I vividly remember sitting by the window in my grandmother's bedroom, reading the Bible to her, as soon as I had learned to read. Baby, read the Psalms to grandma, she'd ask me. These two women taught me to pray by their example, to love the language of the Bible and to trust in a God that they made real and accessible to my young and impressionable mind. My mother would often challenge me throughout life's difficulties with the words: baby, I double-dog-dare you to trust Him! As years pass, I've learn to forgive the frailties of these two women, and to see what a tremendous gift it was to be mothered by them. As they continue to cheer me on from heaven, I can only hope that I've made them proud, in the way I've learned to trust God more and more each day.

    APPRECIATION

Many people over the years have encouraged me during the oftentimes, arduous journey of my life. But I must say with all earnestness; it is the women in my life-- too many to number or to name--who have saved me. They have listened to my hopes and dreams, my fears and hurts for endless hours. They've cried with me, laughed with me and prayed with me. These women-- some no longer on this earth, some I've lost contact with as we often do, and some still walking beside me--to all of you I say; thank you my sisters. For holding my hands, drying my tears and most of all, for helping me to laugh at myself.

    INTRODUCTION

Daughters of Judah, a dramatic musical, depicts imaginary moments in the lives of eight women of the Bible. From the Old Testament Daughters we have: Miriam the sister of Moses, Rahab the harlot, Deborah the Judge and Ruth the Moabite. From the New Testament Daughters we have: Anna the Prophetess, the Samaritan woman, Mary Magdalene, and finally, Mary, the mother of our Lord Jesus. The more I explored the lives of these women, literally and through imagination, my theme became clear to me: God's grace toward His daughters. As I began to find the voice of each of these women, I began to find my own voice. As I discovered the grace of God in their lives, I could clearly see His loving grace upon my own. To adequately convey the voices of these women in this dramatic production, was a daunting and humbling endeavor. It in no way tries to replace or change, what I believe, is the holy Word of God. As others see the grace of God in the lives of these women, I hope that they too will see, if only in some small way, the grace of God upon their own lives, and His love and kindness toward all His daughters.
