A little about me, I have two beautiful daughters and a son-in-law who I adore. A amazingly handsome grandson and the new addition to my family, a beautiful baby granddaughter. I enjoy spending time with my family, love curling up with a good book, riding on the back of my boyfriend’s motorcycle, saving every animal I can, and being with my German Shepard, Verdae, who is my constant companion and is unmercifully spoiled.Born and raised in Minnesota I will continue my life here but it does have its ups and downs. This great state is known for its ten thousand lakes, along with green grass and big trees. I find the constant changes in seasons a bit wearing on a person’s soul. A Minnesotan will tell you there’s two seasons, road construction and winter.Drawing near retirement, I find myself wanting to leave this wonderful State and move somewhere warmer like New Mexico or Florida, but I will always find my way back home to Minnesota where my children have chosen to live their lives away from their mom.My friends and family will contest, I’m never far from a pen and paper. I can find so many things in the world that peaks my interest and can create an entire story just for you.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
I want to thank my family for being so supportive of me as I muddled my way through writing this book. They have been patient and went many nights without supper or clean clothes.
If it weren’t for my mentor and best friend, Aliyah Burke, I wouldn’t have had the courage to finish any of my books. Thank you so much for constantly but very gently nagging at me to get going and write. You know that I love you.
Last but not forgotten I want to thank both of my beta readers. LaVerne Thompson and Glenda Krueger. The encouragement and support you showed me as you read my books before anyone else was so appreciated.
Chapter One
Nancy Johnson walked through the halls of the ten-story apartment complex which had been condemned years ago. The old building was barely holding together.
It had taken her boss months to finally close on the sale. After he had signed the papers, Nancy had been the first person Harry Johnson had called. Her specialty was needed. It was time to demolish the building, and she had the dynamite to take it down.
Nancy had worked for Johnson Construction Company since she had left the military a few years ago. After four years in the Army, she and Charlie, her husband, had settled in New Mexico.
Charlie had been excited to move her to his home town of Albuquerque. When they had arrived home to his parents’ house, Charlie had introduced her to his uncle, Harry Johnson, who owned a local construction company.
Her radio crackled as her partner, Andy, came over the waves loud and clear. Nancy, I’ll be ready as soon as I get the first floor wired. Are you ready with the rest of the floors?
I’m almost there. The second through eighth floors are done; I just need to finish the ninth and tenth.
She let go of the talk button on her handheld.
Okay. Let me know when you’re ready. We’ll have the building cleared so you can do your thing.
Nancy basked in the knowledge of her power. She loved her job, which was blowing shit up, and it was her passion.
Ten four.
She put her radio back on the belt at her waist. She couldn’t believe it had only been a year since she’d lost her husband and partner. Charlie had been her explosive assistant in the Army and, after that, here with Johnson Construction.
Nancy had to shake her head to clear her thoughts. She couldn’t think about him right now. She had a building to blow up. So she walked through the empty hallways and pictured the families who had called this building home.
When her cell phone rang she felt the vibration from her belt. She grabbed it and, glancing down, saw it was her sister, Aubrea. She was due in today with new trucks for the clean-up. Hello?
Hey, sis. How are you?
The rich tone of Aubrea’s voice sang through the phone line.
Good. At the moment, I’m in the middle of setting explosives.
Nancy was both excited and aggravated to hear from her sister. Aubrea understood when she was working, Nancy’s nerves were strung tight.
Really. Well, I just wanted to let you know I won’t be down until the end of the week or sometime after. They don’t need me as soon as they expected.
The disappointment sent a sadness through Nancy. She had been waiting all week for her sister, who she hasn’t seen in a long time, to come today.
That’s too bad. I guess I just have to wait to see you.
Nancy didn’t want her sister to know she was really bummed out.
I’ll be down as soon as I can get there, I promise. Oh, and Nancy, I have a little surprise for you.
There was a trace of laughter in Aubrea’s voice, which told Nancy the girl was up to no good. What in the world was she planning to surprise her with? Nancy couldn’t even begin to imagine.
Don’t do this now to me, Aubrea. I’m warning you. Spit it out. No surprises.
She was firmer than she intended to be but she couldn’t handle when Aubrea did this to her.
"I don’t want to tell you. If you think a
