About this ebook
If God gave you a mission, would you answer His call?
The Lord has given Stary, a high school freshman, a mission: extinguish the evil residing in the murderer of two teens—Maren and Umbra. Stary never imagined that her strange visions meant that she was the Spirit Warrior for God and now with her powers activated, she must train to use them and try not to get caught by the murderer who has the ability to hide and conjure up the dark powers from the fallen angel himself—Lucifer. If Stary fails, not only will she lose her life, but Maren and Umbra will lose their entry into heaven and the world will be exposed to the madness of the murderer for the next forty years until the new Spirit Warrior is born.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I actually got drawn into the book by the cover. It look interesting. And that is was. I like the names of the Character's and the relationship they shared. My favorite would have to be the main character Stary and hope that he will be mentioned in the 2nd book. I would consider this book a teen/semi adult read. And I promise it is well worth the read. As it keeps you reading until the end and wanting more.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5I can see that I'm in the minority in not enjoying this book so please bear in mind that my opinions are just my own and perhaps I'm missing something.I was attracted to this book by its synopsis and (frankly) beautiful cover but I quickly realised that it just wasn't for me. A lot of this is the quality of the prose. It just felt really unpolished - as though it could have used a really good edit - as it was more like a first draft than a complete novel. The idea behind the plot is very simple but it's confusing in execution. Starry's powers and their limitations are never explained, I was left confused as to what the nature of the "murder" was until the climax and the plot frequently derailed itself in lengthy tangents, forgetting for chapters at a time that its focus was supposed to be stopping a murderer. The quality of the writing is also not great. There are lots of mixed metaphors ("boomed through the air like a knife"), repetition (describing head movements as being "like a puppy") and poorly structured sentences that lose their meaning. The influences of manga were very clear but didn't integrate well into the story. An example is the fixation of the changes in people's eyes. People's eyes don't contain smoke or stars in the real world and these descriptions were pretty jarring.I also felt the cast was a little shallow. Starry was too perfect. She's the model of a good Christian but contains no conflict. She's never selfish or cruel and succeeds at everything she does will no trouble (she claims to be bad at gym but can still do somersaults and front-flips). Umbra's mood swings made him come across as a douchebag. What kind of man wakes up a girl to tell her she should be asleep? I couldn't buy him as a romantic lead because I spent most of the book wanting to strangle him!Beyond this, there is little by way of characterisation. The cast of the story was huge but the supporting cast really dissolved into a list of names. Occasionally, Starry would exposit things about them (like how Allen was very rich) but these facts were largely unimportant as only a couple of the characters were actually significant in the greater scheme of things. Most existed purely to tell Starry how perfect she was.All in all, this wasn't the novel for me and isn't one I'd recommend. Perhaps with a bit of polish it could have been saved but it was just too long and confusing and the characters were too shallow for me to get behind.
