About this ebook

Sioras4 -The Recognition. Sioras4 is a planet from our Universe. It has a few conditions for supporting the life as a part of our Earth conditions. Sioras4 was colonized by people excluded from our society. They were outlaws, like Radu and the Skinny, who made a lot of bad things and the court had convicted and sent them to one of the exclusion space station. Those who were more serious antisocial acts were taken on Station Zero, a space station of exclusion. Its name is Station Zero because the excluded have very few rights. The excluded were finished and paid their sentence, repaired the damages and after that they have recovered all rights and freedom, inclusive the right to return in society, a society which has its basis on human rights and freedom. They were now free men who could return to Earth, in society, a society with no wars. But some of ex-excluded chosen to live on Sioras4, a planet which had a type of society based on obligation relation. The Earth society based on rights and freedom, was consisted of all independent states on Earth, international organizations, private organizations and so on. This state has its own leaders, as the independent state just like today. The entire Earth is this society. But it is an advanced society because they like and guarantee all the rights of people, including human rights and all the freedom. The society has a lot of airports for space and one of them is the number four space airport. On that space airport there are some pilots who carry out orders of their commanders and society, Tudor, Gabriel, Luca, Adrian and so on. They have received a lot of space missions, including the mission to recover the Station Zero, if they could do this. The people of Sioras4 in collaboration with the space pilots of F formation, the pilots of society on Earth, fight against the excluded from society who conquered the Station Zero, a space station for expulsion.

Savu Ioan-Constantin

My name is Savu Ioan Constantin and I was born in 1973 in Cluj-Napoca, Romania.I've loved reading since I was little, especially children's books, historic and adventure stories, and police novels. My first project was a police book, written in high school, in a notebook. I never published it, although I did show it to some of my classmates who had nice things to say about it. After some years, other projects followed, including "Locul de pornire" (The Starting Place), a novel for teens and young people, which I donated in unexpected circumstances and "Romira II B", my first Science-Fiction project, which was also finished in unexpected circumstances, but was never published. Next was the "Sioras4 - Recunoasterea" (Sioras4 - The Recognition) project, which was published in Romanian as a printed edition in December 2009. This book was also translated into English, in electronic format. After "Sioras4 - Recunoaşterea" there was another good book, "Mesaj de pe sonda spaţială" (Message from the Probe), published in Romanian as a printed edition in December 2012. I've also published a work on lease contracts and "Joan and Her Friends", in English, a series of short educational stories for kids, as well as the work "Comunicarea interpersonala" (Interpersonal Communication), in an electronic format. As far as education goes, I have a bachelor's degree in Juridical Sciences and I have graduated post-universitary psychopedagogy, history (second bachelor's degree), economics and management courses. I also have master's degree in economics and management. I've worked mainly as a teacher, civil servant and legal advisor. Currently I'm a middle and high school teacher, teaching socio-human sciences, history and economic and I'm getting ready to start other books, novels as well as works in areas such as law, psychology and psychopedagogy. I live in Romania. I hope that my books will be well-liked in English as well and maybe I'll have the chance to visit some beautiful places around the world.

    Chapter 1

The police officer looked carefully at the angelic face of the woman at the wheel. Then he looked over the documents submitted to control. A little transformation of the face, but those traits that never change were still there.

Can you tell me where you're going, ma'am?

    Of course, officer.

    Where?

To the court of justice, officer.

    I assume you're an attorney.

    You guessed it, officer.

And, of course, you want to get a felon of the hook, don't you?

The woman remained musing for a few seconds and then she replied very sweetly:

Yes, if it proves I'm right. This is my job, officer. Just as you want to give me a fine for exceeding the speed limit.

As I can see, and as the portable computer tells me, you are at the first offence, and the speed wasn't so high. You've exceeded the speed limit by only three kilometers per hour so I'll forgive you today. You should leave your car's speed limiter on in the city to make sure that you don't exceed the speed limit.

Thank you, officer, how sweet of you. I hope we'll meet again, under different circumstances.

The police officer nodded, and greeted her elegantly, letting her go. He watched her drive away, knowing that within several hundreds of meters the woman would stop in front of the Court of Justice that could be seen in the distance. Typical for his class, more chubby than well-built, his face betrayed the happiness for having done a good thing and having met an attorney, even if under these circumstances. But it also betrayed the fact that he had forced himself to suck his belly to look better and less round. He looked around, panting more often than usual, raised a hand, frowned his eyebrows and whistled firmly towards the next car drawing near.

    Pull over, scum!

Hello, officer, what have I done?

The turn signal on the right side is broken. The high beams are on during daytime. And above all these, your car is filthy. Where do you think you are, on a mountain road, during the flood? Can't you see you're in the middle of the city?

Forgive me, officer, but only the covering glass of the turn signal is broken. The light bulb is still there and it's working. Well.

    Really?

And I've left the high beams on so that people can see I'm on the public road.

Say no more, said the police officer, red like a crab.

And besides all these, I'm on my way to a car wash said the poor driver proudly."

Really? You have an answer to everything. That's how you all are, full of ideas. Look at the traces of mud you've left behind said the policeman with a plaintive tone. But I'll teach you a lesson.

Officer, I will fix everything, the car will be in mint condition. I'll wash it myself, decreed the driver.

You little... said the police officer. You have exceeded the speed limit by four kilometers per hour, finished the officer.

The woman, as the police officer had guessed, parked the car in the parking lot in front of the Court of Justice. She secured it and hurried upstairs to the entrance.

Maria, Maria! another woman called her.

    Hello, Dana.

    Hello.

You won't believe what happened to me a few minutes ago. A chubby police officer stopped me for speeding in the city by three kilometers an hour. Even more, he thought he was doing me a favor by letting me go. He pretended that I should keep the speed limiter on in the city. Can you believe that?

Oh, these people. It happened to me too a few days ago. I contested the fine I had got and won. Sometimes cops are really too zealous.

    Often, dear, often.

    Right you are.

You should have seen how horny that chubby guy was. He seemed not to have ever seen a woman in his life, continued Maria while entering the Court of Justice building.

The rascal, confirmed Dana. Let's get ready for the trial.

Society. Society - where everyone has either found their place or is about to. A society where man wakes up in the morning, washes up, has breakfast, goes to work for somebody else or for himself. He works more or less as dictated by his surroundings in which he is bound to work, whether the conditions are harsh or not. They earn their money according to the management they work under or as the company's accountant allows him to within the boundaries of the rules in use.

Family people strongly believe that everything is for the family environment they live in and to which they contribute for the general welfare. They watch their offspring grow up and learn the rules they have also learned from their predecessors. Family people and traditionalists. Then there are those who bring novelty into their daily culture. And they adopt this novelty to the habit of daily things and regulations.

Then there are the career citizens of our society. People who believe that their job or the trade they chose or that has been imposed upon them is of utmost importance. And they work more or less, according to the opportunities possessed or encountered in order to elevate their job at an existential degree thus giving up lots and lots of other possibilities and relaxation. And in the society that Maria lives in career is the most important one. Money, relations, opportunity. And of course the choice of the relaxation manner whenever possible. Because Maria had a personal secretary. A real man. So she had neither the time nor the status to reach the level of a fat police officer. However she had the time to have a conversation and display the necessary behavior to elude a fine.

The undecided and the indifferent wanted nothing else but to live their lives without having to worry about tomorrow. Lots of them in one corner of the society, fewer in another. Depending on the field and on the tolerance they receive or share. Happy are the indifferent one who don't care where they work, as long as they work. They're interested only in getting their damn wages to keep on living.

And above all is the existence of so many layers of the society, all of them so natural. Like the guilds of old, everyone knew or believed the knew their place in society. Whether not financially independent, in charge or subordinates, men and women, they all had something in common yet at the same time possessing an individual feature within society.

The lonely ones, those people who got used to live and consume their states within their own intimacy according to a certain degree of selfishness. Ranking sociability and social expression second, maintaining their own personality together with the results of their creation or work into their own existential ambient, without even considering necessary to utter, and display cooperation with the others publicly for a profit to share. They would rather create and rejoice yet at the same time also complain in their own intimacy about the world they regarded only through their own point of view. Individuality as an important feature, withdrawal as a signature of their action.

However the latter ones were more monitored than the others by the associations supporting the society. There was nothing special as in older times. It is the same society that all men adopted, consciously or not. Namely the same modern way of life with traditionalist features for some of them, adaptability to new or only innovation for other categories.

Besides all this, fun and relaxation were the same. However, ways to achieve things and the opportunities to do so were much more, the freedom of expression being undisturbed. And it was understandable because this society, highly computerized from a certain point of view, would send away those people who brutally violated its rules. Far away from it, somewhere where they could no longer harm it, with the possibility for some wrong doers to return, however, much later for them to start a new life. Nobody wanted this because the economic and social development was so high and the life standards so elevated, that removing one person out of his environment and sending him away brought with it an impeachment of his very freedom. Because the wrong doers where sent away to a different society where freedom was being paid for without guarantee and protection. Moreover, the freedom acquired in that environment was restricted by the freedom to travel namely traveling to certain areas was forbidden. On the other hand far away into space there was all the freedom of movement one could wish for. As far away from the society that expelled them out of its ranks as possible.

After the experience with the traffic cop, Maria started to think about how to convince the judge to let her client off easily, with a light punishment. First, she needed to speak with her client. She entered the courtroom and headed for the detention chambers.

She looked at the man whom she had defended using all the tricks she knew. What a pity for such a male specimen, Maria whispered to herself, measuring him from head to toe.

The man in front of her was good looking, being 5 ft. 11 in. tall, with a shaved head, a smug look on his face which wasn't anything special, expressing nothing, absolutely nothing. And yet this man had walked into the hotel room of some tourists, beat the living daylight out of a poor man and he slept with the poor man's girlfriend, showing him how to deal with a woman. After that, he put an end to the aggression by throwing the man out of the window from the upstairs hotel room straight into the hotel pool. Just for fun. And with what consequences.

The aggressive man, as he had been presented to the Court was happy to see his attorney approaching. With a glimmer of hope, he asked her how she was and she seemed quite interested in his question. Blushed cheeks, eyes full of desire, she was deeply impressed by his body. That's how Maria looked in front of the man that she was defending.

Hi, David. I do what I do and I hope to manage to persuade the judge.

Do all what you can do Maria. All you can. But I don't want them to send me on Loras. I don't think that I'll make it out there.

If they send you to Loras, let’s hope that this will be the harshest sentence.

    Why are you saying this?

Because the judge seemed to be very decided and very tough. If only he wouldn’t give another decision.

I’m quite confused, my dear Maria. As far as I know and read from the newspapers when I was a free man, and especially from my cell-mates, Loras is the toughest place for me, considering what I’ve done.

I’m sorry, David, but I think we should take in view another place. A place nobody speaks about because it’s simply not spoken about.

    Which one?

Station Zero by the Ersarafor1 star.

Oh my Lord, that far? It would take me at least one lifetime to return from there. Ersarafor1 used to be an old mining station named after the closest star near the Sioras4 planet. I can’t make even if I have an athletic build. Please, do whatever you can to have me sent to Mitora, on this closer station where those with lesser punishments are being sent. Where the pickpockets go.

I’ll do my best, my dear. Have you put the money into the account I gave you?

Yes. All of it. As you requested when I hired you.

Thanks darling, now I’m going to plead in front of the judge. Be a good boy, Maria advised him and headed for the horizontal bar in front of the judge’s desk.

All rise. The presiding honorable judge is now entering the court room in order to decide the location where the excluded is to be sent, announced the usher.

Everybody present, from lawyers, attorneys to all the audience stood up and waited for several seconds before the judge showed up through the massive oak door behind the desk.

Please, be seated, said the judge of the case. We are opening the case Great David vs. State. Establishing the place where the excluded one will be sent to, he who was found guilty of all the accusations pronounced be the case attorney as a representative of our society, which we respect to having brought about only joy and full liberty of satisfying all our wishes and aspirations. Attorney, take the floor.

Honorable judge, lawyers and audience, the attorney started his plead bowing in front of the ones he had mentioned after having carefully arranged the papers on the little presentation table in front of him. "We are here to deal with an extremely serious case for our high society which infringes the highest principles which our society is based upon. Breaking in through burglary, action with aggravated intention since the doer was the employee of the hotel, breaking the right to intimacy of the victim not only by the way of operating, but also because what happened was in the evening, violating the space, the residence, violating the secret of correspondence since the door accessed the electronic notebook of the victim, aggression of the body integrity by hitting and second degree burnings, by tying up their hands, meaning sequestration and the impossibility of self defense of the victim, smoking at and attempting to the dignity and independence of the victim, the impossibility of speaking because of having the victim gagged and having him obliged to watch what was going on in the intimacy of the personal bed with the victim's girlfriend, showing clearly and explaining orally what was going on, sexually possessing the victim's girlfriend. Then there came with intention, we assume, the throwing of the victim from upstairs right into the pool of the hotel where the doer worked, bringing about the consequences which we know. But we all know these from the trial which has taken place. What we don't know is the place where the excluded one will be deported. We support the idea that he shall be taken to the farthest place. Let him be taken to Station Zero, near Sioras4''.

Do you wish him to be sent to Station Zero? intervened the judge.

Yes, judge. And from there, if the administration is willing to, he may be taken to Sioras4.

Is that your last wish? the judge asked once again.

It's the last solution, the attorney reinforced his idea.

According to the procedures, let the defense take the floor, proceeded the judge.

Honorable judge, continued Maria, this solution is much too tough. Having talked to my client before we agreed that he should be deported to Mitora.

Mitora, judge, it's not possible, chimed in the attorney.

Please observe the procedure, attorney of the case. Go on, Mrs. lawyer.

Thank you, judge. As I have said, my client agrees to be sent to Mitora.

Have you let the attorney of the case know the wish of your client before the opening of the case?

No judge, no. But I now support this possibility which can become true by giving the sentence. The reasons for this solution are the fact that my client is at his first infringement. He has never had any problems concerning law which makes us conclude that this is an unhappy event in his life. He may be associated to a pickpocket not to a ferocious murderer. Look at him, judge, urged Maria pointing to David. Does he look like a man one should be afraid of? Certainly not. Is he a man to be isolated from our wonderful society? Certainly not. Is he a man to be isolated from our wonderful society? Certainly not. Can he successfully become part of our society again? He certainly can. We should take into consideration this possibility when deciding on the place of deportation. I mean he should be recovered, reintegrated and he should work for himself and for us again as soon as possible.

I’d like to hear some other locations from you, gentlemen, said the judge. Attorney?

What Mrs. layer supports is trivial, judge, says the attorney wiping his nose with a handkerchief. In the first place, this proposition is as void as possible under the current situation and the given case. The man who Mrs. lawyer pointed to so attentively, as a real artist, was found guilty of the charges against him brought by the court that judged the case. Here it is you who have to give a solution regarding the appropriate place where this man should be sent to. Namely Station Zero near Sioras4. Why there? Because once there, he can ask for re-education on that station or he may be even sent to Sioras4 to reintegrate himself into the community which is there.

    Mrs. lawyer?

Honorable judge, answered the lawyer I draw your attention to the lack of compassion of the case attorney. We all know the meaning of being deported to Sioras4 by the administration on Station Zero, one will never return. Once he’s used it to it’s difficult for him to reintegrate into our society. If you ask me it’s even impossible. At most, at most he could be sent as Mr. attorney’s proposition to the Loras station. This is what the accusation could suggest at most. If we carefully consider the evidence of the case, we will find out that this is the harshest solution which can be given in this case. And let’s not forget that this fact is as painful as possible especially as my client is not made for being sent to Loras. Station Zero is the last place known by us as a place of exclusion and a harsh on and even, in some cases, irrecoverable for the excluded. It’s the last solution. As the name tells use, once there, these people are forgotten by the society and even by us, who participate in the judiciary system. It’s as unjust as possible for a man such as this who is at the first offence to be sent there. Stop this injustice and allow this man to hope for a change of re-educating himself in a milder system and send him to the Mitora station.

    Attorney?

Honorable judge, it’s as obvious as possible that the defense lawyer does nothing else but defend her client. And good for her, since the right to defense is granted and even us, attorneys, have to protect it. What has to be understood is the fact that the excluded himself violated the right to defense of the victim, an understanding of this right which our society has.

We are not to return to the pleads for the charges and defense as in the case in which the offence itself has been judged. Here we have another procedure, namely to decide whether and where to have the excluded sent to intervened the judge. And let’s take another look at the monitors to see the scene of the crimes committed. Now, images from the scene of the crime, please.

The participants watched the monitors for several minutes. And the moans and the sounds of disapproval came soon after.

The culprit’s physique allows him to be transported to one of the stations which you have mentioned. Taking into consideration his lack of compassion and the cold blooded way in which he acted, his deportation to the Mitora station is out of question. I understand that you also suggest the Loras station. Let the culprit rise. What station would you prefer?

Honorable judge, said the culprit humbly. I have been found guilty. I wish the station Mitora would be taken into consideration. But you have excluded this possibility. Therefore, I humbly beg you to send me to Loras, although I know I won’t be able to cope with it. Unless you decide something different.

"We can take into consideration only the Mitora, Loras and Station Zeros, these are the only choices. Since Mitora is out of the question, only Loras and Station Zero are left. Your wish has been expressed and heard by the court, so you
