About this ebook

Louisa's life revolved around her mother, her grandparents and their sewing shop. Her burgeoning magic wasn't something that concerned her. Mother and Grandmother Anna both handled it well, as did her aunts and cousins. There was no reason to think that her magic might someday be a threat to anyone at all.

But then a man came to the shop before opening. His actions changed how Louisa viewed herself, her magic and the rest of the world.

Threads of Hate is a tale of growing up, the power that even the weakest possess and learning the consequences of one's actions. Readers troubled by abuse of minors and death should read with caution.

Threads of Hate - Meyari McFarland

    Threads of Hate

    By Meyari McFarland

He grumbled something very rude under his breath, toes tapping impatiently again. Once the stabilizing piece was in place, Louisa carefully began sewing on the button. Black for anger, black for pain, black for endings; she sewed her rage at the haughty man into every pass of the needle and prayed to Haraldr for vengeance.

Let him feel the pain that he causes others, Louisa prayed as she carefully wrapped the thread under the button to create the proper gap that would let the coat close. "Mighty Haraldr, let him suffer the consequences of his cruelty and stupidity so that he doesn't hurt anyone else ever again."

    Dedication:

This one is dedicated to my grandmother who was the most incredible seamstress I've ever met. She created all her own clothes from the time she was thirteen and clothed the entire family until her eyes gave out on her.

She's been gone for decades but I still think of her every time I pick up a needle and thread.

Thank you for everything, Grammie. I wish you were here to critique my sewing and my descriptions of sewing.

    Threads of Hate

Louisa hummed as she swept up the shop before opening. She knew they'd swept last night but the broom kept finding new little dust bunnies made of lint and bits of thread in the nooks and crannies under the counter in the front part of the shop. Maybe last night she hadn't done as good of a job as she'd thought but it had been dark and she'd been tired. At least
