    Author’s Preface

This was originally written as the author’s final thesis for his PhD in Studies of Extra-Terrestrial Life at the Open University of Ouagadougou, perhaps one of Burkina Faso’s most prestigious online tertiary institutions.

It was originally published under the title of: On human consumption of extra-terrestrial life forms, the culinary, nutritional, ethical and economic implications. However, the author’s publicist has persuaded him to republish the work for a wider more popular market under the more succinct, albeit somewhat misleading title given above. The author has, however, followed his original format in presentation of the thesis, omitting however his extensive footnotes, which will be provided to serious scholars on request, but which are of little interest to the lay reader of this piece.

On human consumption of extra-terrestrial life forms, the culinary, nutritional, ethical and economic implications

    Abstract

The author developed the idea for this thesis after a chance remark in the University’s Studies of Extra-Terrestrial Life’s online chatroom by a fellow student to the effect that the consumption of extra-terrestrials could contribute to feeding the world’s poor, a remark that I at once considered both altruistic and visionary. This remark then led me to investigate the wider implications of this idea.

When I began my research I at once found myself in relatively unchartered waters and necessarily at times it has been necessary for me to become somewhat speculative given the paucity of hard data in some areas of the topic. However, I have extensively researched the available literature on the subject and I have exhaustedly interviewed chefs, slaughter men, religious authorities as well as native peoples with experience in preparation of extra-terrestrial meat and by products.

Finally, I have presented a conclusion and recommendation at the end which I believe will be of interest to a great number of people.

I have also taken the rather unusual step of providing a disclaimer after my conclusion directed specifically at any extra-terrestrials that might unfortunately happen upon this text. As will be readily understood by the reader, some of the subject matter presented in this thesis might be considered somewhat sensitive from the standpoint of an extra-terrestrial. I would venture to suggest that the human reader of the disclaimer should take my disclaimer with a pinch of salt. I would also caution the reader against offering this thesis to extra-terrestrials
