At the insistence of his oldest friend, he reluctantly agrees to be set up on a 1Night Stand. Perhaps it's the push he needs to finally move on?

Divorced and preparing for an empty nest when her only son leaves for Marine Boot Camp, Katie is ready for a change. Working as a legal secretary has given her professional fulfillment, but her romantic life leaves something to be desired. Forced to confront their issues and a divorce neither wanted, can Sam and Katie forget the past and reconnect?

    Chapter One

Ugh, I have no idea how you talked me into this, Mark, Sam Jenkins mumbled while adjusting his tie.

Would you knock it off? You look great. His friend stepped between Sam and the full-length mirror mounted on the bathroom door, blocking his view. And you agreed to this because it’s about damn time you get back out there.

    That’s your opinion, man.

We’ve been friends forever. I’m pushing you because you won’t take this step on your own. Katie’s gone, and it’s obvious she’s not coming back.

The mere mention of her name started the drum corps battle in his gut. I don’t know.

Mark sighed. I know this must be hard for you. Twenty years with someone is a long time, but—

Eighteen years. The clock stopped when she signed the divorce papers.

Papers you sent her! Another sigh. You said yourself the marriage was over long before you had the papers drawn up. Are you second-guessing yourself?

Second-guessing? Try millionth-guessing. I’m not ready for another relationship. I don’t even know if I want to date.

That’s the beauty of Madame Eve’s service, buddy. One night—that’s it. If you don’t make a connection, you can leave without any guilt. But, if you like the woman, you can enjoy your evening. No expectations. It’s perfect.

So I just fuck her and walk away? Is that it?
