Yamila Abraham founded the publishing company Yaoi Press in 2004. Ayjah perched herself on the armrest of Darius’ throne while a Chinese witch gave her report before them.

Darius wrapped an arm around her hip. A little late, hm, my love? He said too low for the witch to hear.

Ayjah stared blankly at the witch. I was…in the bath.

You usually don’t dawdle.

I needed time to think.

Darius eyed her, then turned back to the witch. Enough, Ziao-Di, he said in Mandarin. Go see Lect for your next assignment.

The witch remained kneeling. Lord Darius…I can’t bear to do this any longer. I respectfully ask for my freedom.

Granted. Enjoy eternity in Hell.

He pointed a claw at her, and the youthful woman aged three hundred years in the span of two seconds. She screamed as her cheeks hollowed. Then her eyes sunk into her face, her flesh evaporated from her bones, and her bones crumbled to dust. Her silk dress collapsed onto the pile of powder. A short fat wraith hobbled over with a broom and dustpan.

Darius hugged Ayjah nearer to him. What were you thinking about?

Pioche, she said while watching the wraith. Was that an angel bite I saw on his shoulder?

Darius nodded. He tried to harm a mortal. Raquiel punished him.

"That was Raquiel’s doing? She looked at Darius with astonishment. Does that not trouble you?"

The large demon’s brow furrowed. Tell me why it should.

Raquiel must have considered Pioche’s transgression her responsibility because he resides in Fantastica—her realm.

Darius grunted.

So she must consider Hadyn and all his demons under her jurisdiction.

Hmm. What does it mean?

Could she meddle in our affairs with Hadyn’s clan? What if Pioche beseeched her? Or Hadyn, later on, after you’ve claimed him?

Darius’ eyes widened. He rubbed his chin in contemplation. You think she’d hassle us?

Ayjah crossed her arms. I don’t know. I remember that she was a very skittish thing. She wouldn’t want to get involved. But then, she was also naïve. If Pioche begged her she might take action.

Darius grumbled. I won’t stifle myself out of fear of an angel. How could Pioche even reach her?

I don’t know. It’s the fact that they’ve already had contact that terrifies me.

You want me to get rid of him. Is that it, Ayjah?

She clucked her tongue. I’m not one of your harem girls, Darius. I don’t waste breath on doublespeak. If that’s what I wanted I would have said so.

He caressed her hand and nodded. What do you suggest, then?

I suggest you be careful. We’re no longer in Hell, where there are no rules. Your actions may have consequences. What if Hadyn’s clan sees Raquiel as their guardian angel?

Pah!

If you push too far they may seek her out of desperation. We don’t want to tempt her wrath.

I think I’ll just have a warlock put a curse on a chain and shackle Pioche to my bed. That way he can’t sneak to the mortal world to lure her down.

Ayjah’s brow rose. Good idea.

I do have them now and again.

She patted his hand. Of course you do.

Darius made a cruel smile and smacked her bottom. Condescending bitch.

She adjusted her seat on Darius’ armrest. I learned from the best. Call in your next appointment. And stop killing your servants. There’s no new blood coming in to replace them.

Darius rolled his eyes. Yes, dear.

Levi finished all of them? Felix said
