Hey all, I'm Steve, aspiring writer; I love writing, the thrill of telling a tale, creating new exciting worlds and characters, what's not to love? I mainly focus on short stories to novellas. I try to keep my genres open, but usually stick to action/adventure, supernatural/horror, sci-fi, comedy and suspense/thrillers. I'll try any genre at least once, or at least use it as a sub-genre. I really enjoy meshing genres that normally don't go together, just to see what I can come up with. Prologue:
In the distant future, mankind spent every last bit of Earth’s resources due to overpopulation. To ensure their survival, we were able to set aside our racial differences and together formed the mighty Alliance. The newly appointed Emperor, Viktor Soth, united the countries, pooled resources and knowledge and in the span of a few short months, space technology made an uncanny breakthrough. We were finally able to build ion drives and spaceships that could venture out into deep space; hoping to discover new habitable planets.
With spaceports positioned by Mars and Jupiter, ships could recharge their drives and venture further out of the solar system. On the outer fringe of our system, a vessel located a wormhole that led them to another galaxy which was light-years away. This galaxy not only had plenty of habitable planets to call home but also dozens of intelligent alien species to befriend.
The Emperor had been murdered by one of the alien species but his niece took reign. The human only Alliance controls this galaxy with an iron fist. A pro renegade group is secretly forming but hope is still out of reach. The Empress seems to know things before they happen and can sniff out spies.
Her tyranny is raising questions with her followers and some have rebelled and joined this renegade group. Talien has foreseen the outcome and is plotting a scheme to put an end to this silly endeavour before it gets out of hand.
Chapter 1
In her grand throne room, the Empress sat alone. She was dressed in her dark purple robe with golden silk trim and a hood that concealed most of her face; shadowing the upper half, leaving just her pale chin and red luscious lips visible and prominent. Her pale boney hands, long green nails, firmly grasped the arms of the chair in which she sat.
Her eyes were closed as she meditated. After an hour, she erected a most wicked grin as her bright green eyes opened. She beckoned towards the shadows behind her.
Guard, I request a moment of your time.
Her voice was calm and soothing, made you feel at ease whenever she spoke.
The guard, hidden in the shadows to her left, stepped out. He was just a normal looking fellow, dressed mostly in black attire, standing roughly six feet tall, firm muscular build, short dark brown hair; his glaring eyes kept a constant watch for possible infiltrators. Hand rested on his strapped blaster, ready at all times.
He presented himself before her and graciously bowed by her feet. The loyal guard spoke, Yes my Empress.
She motioned for him to stand, Rise my friend, there is no need to bow for me. For years your faithful services have kept me safe, and I thank you for that. But I have a new mission for someone with your unique set of skills to execute.
Her dedicated protector stood tall, Anything you need my lady.
Aw, hear me out before you give an answer. This mission has severe risk I assure you.
She took a breath and continued to explain. As you are aware, this Renegade group has increased in numbers I did not see nor thought it would. It has now become a threat to the Alliance.
The man let loose a vigorous chuckle before replying. I hardly doubt that my lady, but if you say so.
I need you to, become one of them.
The man appeared a little causal as he asked in disbelief. Come on Talien, we both know the second they check my data they’ll see straight through the deceit!
Colbert I’m beside myself puzzled. We both know you're the perfect man for the job. You have to be bored out of your mind on this assignment.
He nodded; after all, he was highly qualified, much more than to be some bodyguard. But I’m not a spy. We have spies, and the Renegades are too cautious to just trust anyone into their ranks.
Colbert, I have full confidence someone who thinks very unorthodox can figure out a way in.
"
Colbert began to rub his chin; it was something he did when he started to think of a crafty, witty plan on the fly. Well, if I were a traitor to the Alliance, I mean publically bastardized…
Excellent thinking, see, I knew you were the man for the job. I will make it so; you will be hunted down by the Alliance. When you see an old friend, remember, they’re out to kill you now. So see, deceit will not be needed, for you will be the real deal.
Colbert chuckled to the idea of traitor, after all the things he has done for the Alliance, but this was just another mission to ensure the supremacy of the Alliance. He couldn’t pass on this, it wasn’t in him. Ok, I'm thinking to just go rogue and blast my way out of here...
An impious grin came to the
