Colleen Robinson
An aspiring writer since I was a youngster. My first poetry book is a bunch of poems written starting in the early-mid 1980's. Some of the books/stories have been works in progress for years and with multiple tweaks I finally did it and got them published. The 2nd poetry book is more current - strictly 2013 works. The Animal Patrol Anthology is another work in progress finally completed - started off as a project for school (the first story - in 1993) and then the anthology grew.An animal lover - my dream is to win the lottery and purchase space for a great humane society where the Animals are not in tiny cages. They would be in larger cages and furthermore there would be much more advertising for adopting these 'unwanted' pets. All I know is that I want all pets to be loved and wanted. With my humane society - there would be not many "homeless pets" I know I can't house every homeless / feral pet but with my humane society my staff and I would do our best. I would have a team of staff that strictly foster animals - especially those not ready to be re-homed. Ahhh I am a dreamer but that is what I'd do...

My poems inspired by various events over the years as well as my own personal life. Some poems are deep and dark and others are light and fluffy.
I also enjoy writing children’s fiction using real life pets as characters. A vast imagination from childhood I have always hoped to get my work published.
I work at a local insurance brokerage as administrative support and write my poetry and stories as a hobby My next project is publishing my collection of short stories called The Animal Patrol
it is 29 stories long and 20 years in the making.
Part One: Very Special Poems
Verna
A Special Gift
My Wish
Reunited
Verna
A Rose with no thorns
A constant smile
A Daughter, Mother, Sister, Aunt and Niece
Friend and in-law
Your glorious smile is no more.
Your dancing mischievous
heart no longer beats
You may be gone from this earth but
never from our hearts.
Written in honour of my mother who died on February 7, 2006 of Leukemia.
My Wish
Do not ask me what I wish for my fortieth birthday
because it will never come true.
What I’d like is to see my mother again
And hold her in my arms.
Someday I will see her again
Someday when I am old and gray
But as God as My witness
I wish I could see her today.
Written in the days leading up to my 40th birthday
after 6 years of writers block
A Special Gift
The year was 1972.
The date was July 20,
The year of my birth.
My parents chose her sister Donna
and her husband Don as my God Parents.
A beautiful gift for my birth was received,
A white stuffed cat who I later named Snowball.
Snowball is one of two stuffed animals
I still have from my childhood.
Ragged and well loved, she maintains
A spot on my bed.
My Godmother is no longer with us so
Snowball ‘lives’ on in her memory.

Cat in the Window
Simon and Charlie – a conversation between two cats
Stormy and Snoopy – a conversation between a Cat and Dog
If my pet wrote about me what would he say?
When the owner is away what does kitty do?
The Affectionate Cat
A Cat is a precious loving creature,
With eyes like emeralds and a heart of cold
A cat is a furry beauty
who offers love and wants it in return.
A Cat is a warm affectionate companion,
who will keep you company day or night.
A Cat will cheer up the saddest puss,
and brighten up ones day.
A Cat meows when he's angry,
purrs when he's happy,
or if he just wants some love.
This poem is dedicated to my cats:
Puffer who passed away 20.5 years ago
and Charlie who passed away 2 years ago and my current kitty Stormy.
It is also dedicated to all furry, fussy and finicky felines
out there who warm their owner's hearts.
Puffer
You were my cat for 11 ½ years.
You and I were inseparable.
We played together for hours on end.
I took you to school,
you were afraid of my classmates.
You purred all the time.
You meowed for food and would eat like no endand want more.
Then in 1989, at 9 years old,
An accident almost claimed your life.
A Miracle came and you were okay.
I helped nurse you back to health.
With love and Perseverance,
You were almost your old self again.
We had you for another 2 ½ years
before another tragedy struck and this time there was no hope.
